JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON ZELMA NEWMAN FROM THE DAYTON (OH) DAILY NEWS 6/10/09 Zelma Allen Hicks Newman passed away in her sleep June 2, 2009 at her home. Zelma Newman was born on November 22, 1933 in Lackey, KY to Clarence & Mae Allen. Zelma was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother & great grandmother. Zelma was preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Mae Allen, husband Bert Hicks, and second husband Joe O. Newman, who passed away thirteen years earlier. Zelma is survived by her five daughters: Connie (Lowell) Newman, Donnie (Carl) Thatcher, Debra Lambert, Theresa (Dan) Chiles & Judy Ann Hicks. Zelma is also survived by her brothers: Goble (Joyce) Allen, Walter (Betty) Allen, Roy (Glenda) Allen, and James (Sherry) Allen. Zelma's sisters: Clara Conley, Delores (Charles) Branham. Zelma is also survived by eight grandchildren: Michaele (Jeff) Pavelko, Kevin Newman, Chonda Lambert, Naashom Lambert, Marisa (Ron) Bonner, Carolyn Hindman, Miah Thatcher, and Christina (Scott) Levine. Zelma also has seven great grandchildren. Zelma Newman was love! d by all who knew her. She will be missed more than words. Private services were held for the family on June 8, 2009.
