Floyd County in 1810 consist of all of the present counties of Pike, Johnson, Martin, Letcher, Magoffin, and Knott plus parts of Perry, Breathitt, Morgan, Elliott, and Lawrence. If there were only 500 families in the county at that time, they would have been spread pretty thin. There were very few actual settlement in the county at that time. Bobby W. Wells
