I have been looking for many years in that regard. The earliest out migration from East Ky seems to have occurred in the 1850's and 60's. Jonathan Gearheart and Joseph Adam Gearheart to the Kansas/ Missouri border area. Lindsey Gearheart followed to Cass Co.,Mo. a bit later. The Celina Tenn and Burkesville,Ky Gearharts went to Lewis,Howard and Dent Co.,Mo. from my research. I think that your Mary is a granddaughter of Valentine Gearhart of Celina,Tenn or Peter S. Gearhart of the Marrowbone,Caseys fork area of Cumberland Co.,Ky. Their father,Peter, died in Franklin Co.,Va. Valentines son John Packwood or Peter S. Gearharts son, John Alexander, was the father of Mary I think. A third brother ,Thomas S. came to Cumberland Co.,Ky and married there to Hanna Jane Allen and died in Madison Co.,Mo. aft 1850. They had a dau. Polly or Mary Polly also. Bn after 1814. Some of these families lived in Ill and Ind. At least temporarily. There are no Gearharts in Clay or Jackson Co.,Tenn nor Cumberland Co.,Ky today!! The history of Lewis Co.,Mo. indicates that John A. came with his father Peter in 1829. Peter must have gone back home since he reported to have died in Cumberland Co.,Ky after 1839. Peter's grave is yet to be found. Valentines is just east of the town square in Celina,Tenn. I have pics of it. Herb
