April 21, 1904. J.W. Langley, of Kentucky, chief clerk in the United States Census office at Washington City, who has under him 5000 clerks has just taken at the Columbia University the working degree of D.C.L., the highest attainable in law. His old cronies in the Kentucky legislature would have smiled to see him receive it togged out in a black silk cap, gorgeous gown, and doctor's hood of purple silk. _______________ From Knott County Historical Society's - A Century Ago This Week Does anyone have or know where we can obtain various photos of J.W. Langley? Thanks. Sincerely yours, David R. Smith, Pres. Knott County Historical Society, Inc.
