Gus was born February 9, 1928 in Martin, KY to Lona and Vernon Elliott. He grew up in Martin and moved to Dayton, OH after graduating high school and serving in the Marine Corps. Gus was a tool and die maker. He apprenticed at American Gauge and worked for Continental Can, Tipp City Tool, and retired from Adena Tool in 1993. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marietta, a son, Marty, and two brothers Olin, and Wiley. Survived by his son, Gus Jr., daughter-in-law, Randi, three grandchildren: Gus III, Aaron and Lindsey; half-brother Pat Hayes and half-sister Barbara Petersen.
