Hi Herb, Martha was born in 1860 and so that would make Henry's age close to hers. It sure sound like my Henry. Only one thing doesn't fit. Martha claimed to be a widow in Virginia in 1907. But maybe she didn't want to say she was divorced again. How can I find Henry's death date to send for it? Thanks for the information. I have a subscription to Ancestry and found a few things about Mandy Mae Stephens. You may already have them though. Someone has a family website where she is listed as Mandy May Stephens Thacker. Shows she married George "it"Campbell on 8/16/1913 in Floyd Co. Ky. Says she was born 1896 and died 9/3/1945. She is listed on the 1920 census for Floyd Co. Ky. living in Depot, Ky. Shows her as married to George, she is 19 and has 2 children, Harris and Johnie. Her death certificate is online at Ancestry. com but hard to read. It says she was 49 and died from pulmonary TB. Shows the parents you mentioned for her but not her mother's maiden name. The Volumn # is 38 and death certificate is#18768. Ky usually charges $6 or $7 for a copy. Ancestry.com has her name as Mardy Campbell. Think it is because the death certificate is so hard to read. Also the family website had her as Amanda, Manda and Mandy. Hope this helps some. Not sure where the Thacker name comes in unless she remarried. If you have a fax machine I can download the death certificate and fax it to you.

From what I have found his father was George Willis who was killed before John was born in 1863. I have viewed the 1860 census in Floyd Co. and George Willis and Johanna were neighbors to John's mother who was married to W M Goodman. Currently the family history is that John M Goodman took his mother's maiden name and fled to Elliott Co. due to differing political views(fued).
