Author: Contribution Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.floyd/10052/mb.ashx Message Board Post: MANSFIELD, Ohio: Two hard working hands were laid to rest today. Hands that at a very young age, hoed corn on the rocky hillsides of Kentucky as a young teenager. They did a man's job of loading crossties and at the age of 18, went to work in the hot mills of Empire Steel (now A.K.) spending over 38 years doing each and every job that came their way. Learning steel making from the ground up and retiring as foreman in 1987. Bill was born March 20, 1930, the son of Elmon and Martha (Baldridge) Sesco, in Floyd County, Kentucky. Bill was an outdoors person. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and mowing his lawn. One of his greatest joys was to be in the woods on a cool, frosty morning squirrel hunting. He felt blessed when four generations of Sesco's went hunting together. He belonged to various clubs and enjoyed all the friends he made, especially his good friends of the Meijer coffee club. Dear to his heart were his two grandsons, Dr. Tim (Sharon) and Jamie (Tarra); his great grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Corey, and Alicia; and his precious great great grandson, Carter. Along with his grandchildren, he leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Glenna; his son, Dr. William (Tammaie); daughter, Linda; sisters-in-law, Naomi, Evelyn and Pat Sesco, Lilly Hodges, Leola Kauffman, Pauline (Ron) Ramsey, Loretta (Wilbur) Hockensmith, and Mary Jane Riddle; sisters, Betty (Walter) Cox and Rose (Jim) Shulte; many good friends; and cherished nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Vernon, Elmon Jr., Bob, Elbert, and Charles; three sisters, Jewel Bowling, Anna Caudill, and Ellen Henery; mother-in-law, Isa Riddle Garrett; brothers-in-law, Earl Kauffman, Medford Riddle, Raymond Jordan, J.E. Caudill, and Chester Bowling. The family thanks MedCentral Hospice nurses and home care for taking good care of Bill during his last days. There will be no services held at this time. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tunnelm1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.floyd/443.514.993.1014.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There were apparently TWO related men who were each named Thomas C. Brown. One was a descendant of the John Brown in Culpeper Co., VA who married his cousin Elizabeth Brown (a daughter of Daniel Brown "II" and Elizabeth Coleman)....and the other one was a descendant of Daniel Brown and Frances Neville (who moved to Hampshire Co., VA). The Daniel Brown who married Frances Neville was a son of the referenced Daniel Brown "II" and Elizabeth Coleman, and hence, the Daniel Brown who married Frances Neville was a brother of the above Elizabeth Brown who married her cousin John Brown. The above John Brown who married his cousin Elizabeth Brown strongly appears (from a LOT of research) to have been a son of Henry Brown "I" and Keziah Jones, a grandson of Daniel Brown "I" and Jane Copeland, and a great-grandson of the Francis Brown "I" who left his Will in Essex Co., VA in 1691/1692 (Francis Brown "I" was apparently married to an Elizabeth Cole, per one available record). The above Daniel Brown "II" who married Elizabeth Coleman was a son of Francis Brown "II" (left his Will in Essex Co., VA around 1708) and Elizabeth Allen, and a grandson of the above Francis Brown "I" (so the Francis Brown "II" who married Elizabeth Allen was a brother of the Daniel Brown "I" who married Jane Copeland....and they were apparently the only surviving sons of Francis Brown "I'). I suspect that the two referenced (and related) Thomas C. Brown have been "intermixed" in some records. Comments/questions? Note: As I recall, the Thomas C. Brown who was out of Hampshire Co., VA had a brother who was named Nathaniel Brown, and I believe that Nathaniel went to some other county in KY. 2. FlorenceCole51, As I do not know/see your email address, I cannot "invite" you to the Cole Family Site that has (almost) all of the answers to your however-many questions. Maybe you are, in fact, the Florence Cole who's already a member there?? If you are not yet a member of that 'MyFamily.com' site, then I recommend that you send an email to the site boss - Arion Cole - at this address: acole90@bellsouth.net Arion will happily get you into the site. Once there, you will not only find details about your Grandpa Herbert Cole => Charley Cole & Purmela Fletcher => James Cole & Arminta Hampton-Montgomery....but also about your Grandpa Herbert's wife//your Grandma Florence Cole (yes, Cole) => Samuel Cole & Mary Wadkins => Wallis Cole & Margaret Poe....and so on and much more. For what it's worth, I do think that " thomasker2" also gave you valid scoop about some of your ancestors. Good luck with your Cole searches. It seems to me that your gang is rather easy for a ways, then terribly hard and complicated and duplicated for a goodly more ways. Your AmerIndian and Melungeon ancestry will not make your searchings at all easier....but they will without a doubt make them truly fun and exciting.
