Could you be so kind as to look for my great grandmother's death certificate? Her name at the time of death was Clarinda Boyd. I am not sure about the spelling of her first name, so you may find it spelled differently. Her date of death is 12 April 1948, and I believe she passed while living in Floyd County. Thank you very much, I hope to hear from you soon.

Surnames: Stratton, Priest, Preece, Giddens Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAB.2ACI/480.1.1.3.2 Message Board Post: Hello Veronica What a coincidence. I have been working on my Priest family who lived in Floyd County in the early 1800’s today. The Priest family went by Priest or Preece depending on location or who was writing the name. Three Strattons married three Priests. Mary “Polly” Stratton married Henry “Tandy” Stratton May 25, 1813. He was a widower with four children and they had 6 more children including a Richard Price Stratton. I don’t know if this is your Richard Stratton, but here is what I have. Richard Price Stratton’s birthday would have been after 1814 and before 1828 since Tandy and Polly didn’t get married until May of 1813 and he died November 5, 1828. Price was Polly’s paternal grandmother’s maiden name. Tandy’s sister Lovina married Polly’s younger brother Alexander Boone (Priest) Preece Oct. 24, 1822. The consent for her marriage was given by her father Richard Stratton. So Richard Stratton must have been Tandy and Lovina’s father. A letter from Louise Preece to Henry Scalf talks about how Lovina was Solomon Stratton’s granddaughter. The third Priest or Preece - Stratton union was Mary “Elizabeth” Giddens who married Martin William Preece. Somewhere in Louise Preece’s information it talks about how a Stratton led an expedition to Illinois and then to Texas in the 1820’s and 30’s. Rueben and Nancy Stratton Giddens went to Illinois with the expedition and Elizabeth and Martin caught up with them in Texas in the early 1840’s. So Richard Price Stratton - Tandy and Polley's son probably went with or caught up with the expedition in Illinois during the late 1820's or 1830's. You can email me at lucydeyoung@isomedia.com if you want some additional information on Tandy and Polly Stratton. I hope this is helpful. If this is your Richard Stratton I would love to share information. Lucy DeYoung
