I was trying to use OTOMZ@aol.com but anyway, I saw your post about George Garrett in Floyd County Kentucky. I've been at this for only a couple of days now, so I'm a beginner but here's what I have so far with my Garrett family... My name is Roger Garrett. My father's name Roger Fayne Garrett born in 1944 Wheelwright, KY. His brother is William Royce Garrett born in 1946 at Calf Creek, KY. Their Father (my grandfather) is William (Willie) Garrett born in 1913 in Emma (I think) Ky. William married Dorothy Temple Goble. William's sis & bros are Sammie (Conn?) Goble born November 18, 1907 KY. (1/2 or step sister). Mary elle or "L" Garrett born about 1911 KY. Edmund Garrett born about 1916 KY. John Lee (Johnny Lee) Garrett born about 1919 KY. Denvel (known as Den) Garrett born about 1927 KY. Their father was John Wesley Garrett but people called him Wes. Wes was born in 1879 and died July 30, 1929 while working on a state highway in Kentucky. Ky death index listed him as John W. Garret (with one letter "T")Wes married Nancy Rice or Nannie (called her Nan) in 1909 in KY. Wes had a brother named George born about Jan 1878 in KY. (I think you had Jan 1887) typo?? Wes had a sister named Lucy born about July 1883 in KY. Wes's father was(I think) Jessee Garrett known as Jess born 1830. I found the 1880 Floyd County census that shows Wes was only 9-months old and the father was Jesse Garrett age 50 in 1880. Jessee's sis & bros are John Wesley Jr. b: 1827, Midleton b: 1832, Selina b: 1837, Julia Ann b: 1839, Samuel P. b:1841, and Lucy b:1843. Then I found from a Family Tree that their father was John Wesley Garrett born UNKNOWN but married Rebecca in Virginia 1811. John Wesley Garrett's sis & bros that I found is... Susannah Garrett married Soloman McGuire Jan 14, 1812. Elizabeth Garrett married Jesse Mcguire June 17, 1821. Cassandra Garrett married James Stratton October 29, 1820 Their father was Elimelick or ELUMELECH Garrett married to Sally or Sarah Vaughn on April 18, 1792 at Henry Co. Virginia. Sarah Vaughn was born in 1767. I got this from that same tree, but I haven't seen any papers to prove this link up yet. So that's where I'm at, does any of this sound familiar with what you might have?? Are we related? I think maybe we are! If it's the same George Garrett, he would be my Great Uncle and your Grandfather. George was about 50 years old in the 1930 census for Floyd, KY. Please if you can help me out too, email me at pweee@earthlink.net. Thank you for your time, Roger Garrett.

He had a brother Wesley (my Great Grandfather) Wesley's real name is John Wesley Garrett. They had a younger sister named Lucy. I called up ancestry.com and had one of the Pros take a look at everything that I've found so far, Look at the 1900 Floyd County Census under All Townships image # 4. She told me that it looked like their father was Jess Garrett. Then I found George again in 1930 U.S. Census Kentucky>Floyd County>district 3>district 8, image # 33 of 39. Their it shows that he was married to Lila. It shows George was 50 years old. A son Jessie??? (20), Daughter Lula??? (17), son Willard (14), son Bart (6), son Fred (2). Then if you look in 1920 U.S. Census • Kentucky • Whitley • Williamsburg • ED# 278 Image 29 of 38, George was married to Sarah. Well Travis, I've been at this for 2-days so far. And If I'm right then your George is my Great Uncle (brother to John Wesley, they c! alled him Wes) their father was Jess or Jessee. Garrett born in 1830. Jessee's bros & sis are John Wesley Jr. b:1827, midleton b:1832, Selina b:1837, Julia Ann b:1839, Samual P. b: 1841, and Lucy b:1849. Now I think their father was John Wesley Garrett (Sr) b: UNKNOWN but his wife was born around 1811. Then I found from someone's family tree that Elimelick or ELUMELECH Garrett was John Wesley Garrett Sr father. He was married to Sally or Sarah Vaughn April 18, 1792. That's all That I've found so far. If you have any more please, please email me at pweeee@yahoo.com Thanks a lot, Roger.

Surnames: Weddington, James, Priest Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/5029.3.2 Message Board Post: Cathy, In going through some papers tonight I found some legal documents signed by Emily and Robert Weddington then of Golden, Missouri (Barry County) in 1891 for their aunt Mahala James Priest's widow's pension. Mahala was Emily's mother Maranda's second youngest sister. Mahala's six youngest children moved from Floyd County, Kentucky to Golden, Missouri and northern Arkansas starting about 1885. Mahala moved there around 1890 after her husband died. Several of the legal documents are signed by their neighbors in Floyd County, Kentucky so I figure a group from Floyd County moved to the Golden area including Emily and Robert. If you are interested I will send you a copy of the document with their signatures. Lucy DeYoung lucydeyoung@isomedia.com
