As the author of the Patton book I wish to have things correct. In fact earlier editions had Joseph's parents wrong, but recent editions have corrected his relationship to Nancy Patton -Osborn-Roberts-Lawson. The book is now in an 11th edition, thanks to many relatives contributing new and revised information. Can you tell me anything about Joseph M Patton's children? I only know what is in his 1943 obituary. Do you have a marriage date for Nancy and Squire Lawson? I have searched in vain. Thanks and best wishes- David

I am so excited to see someone doing geneology study on the Hall family. I am a direct relative. Big Ed Hall is my great, great grandfather's (Lee Hall, Sr.) brother. Lee Hall, Jr. is my great grandfather. I too am doing geneology. I will see if I can locate any pictures for you. I do have alot of information that I am compiling together. In fact, I was just reading about Big Ed Hall and Cat (Franklin) Hall last evening. I am a direct relative to the World's Largest Married Couple. Captain Martin Van Buren Bates and wife, Anna Swan Bates. He is my great, great, great, great uncle on my dad's mother's side. On my mother's mom's side ~~~ Martin's brother (John Wallis Bates) was married to my great, great, great, great, grandfather's (Wash Hall - Lee Hall, Sr.'s dad) sister (Elizabeth Hall). So John Wallis Bates is a great, great, great, great, uncle by marriage. I located this geneology on both sides and I am just really excited about this. The giants were like 8ft tall. He goes back 4 generations back on both sides of my family of the Bates and the Halls. rdtmusicworld@yahoo.com or rdtmusicworld101@aol.com

Joseph Patton that married Rhoda and Lydia was not the son of David Patton and Nancy Lawhorn Banks. He was the son Of Nancy Patton. Born out of wedlock he took the Patton Name. His mother Nancy was married to Squire Lawson and in 1900 Census Nancy Lawson his Mother is living in his Household. He was a witness on both his siblings marriage records. He had a sister named Frances who was also born out of wedlock and used the surname Patton and osborne. Joseph's brother Greenville Lawson was Nancy's only child that wasn't born out of wedlock. In no records does this Joseph have apperson as his middle name. He is in many records with his siblings and his mother Nancy Patton Lawson. You can find his middle name as allen in some records.

Cat was the only sibling of my g-grandfather, Harvey G. Franklin of Letcher County. Big Ed was born on Otter Creek outside of modern Wheelwright in 1858, son of Wash and Cindy Hall. He died as a result of a shooting in Pound, VA in 1895. He was instrumental in the capture of the Fleming brothers and Marshall "Red Fox" Taylor. Cat Franklin Hall survived him and moved back from Pound River to the Beaver/Wheelwright area, where she apparently died in either 1919 or 1931 (I have seen both dates). In addition to photos and news articles covering their lives, I also would like to confirm where they might be buried. Can readily accept scanned images, but will reimburse for copies and mailing as well. My address is: Dan Mohn, 4101 Ciremos Terrace, Louisville, KY 40241.
