    1. [KYFLOYD] OUSLEY
    2. I'm just putting it out there again that I am researching the family of Fleming OUSLEY (b. March 1822, VA, -d. aft. 1880, KY) and Elizabeth SANDERS (b. abt. 1830). I am most interested in their daughter, Catharine OUSLEY, (b. bet. 1860-1862), as she married my gr-grandfather, Joseph MITCHELL, in Greenup County, KY, in 1888. Thanks. Rebecca

Kentucky Web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyfloyd/floyd.htm My Personal Web Site http://kahamilton.net -----Original Message----- From: Sherri Hall [mailto:ldrbelties@earthlink.net] Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2004 9:13 AM To: KYGenWeb-KVRP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KVRP] Kentucky Vital Records Project The KYGenWeb Project is very proud to announce the latest addition to our "Special Collections" of research references for those with Kentucky roots, the Kentucky Vital Records Project. (http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kvrp) What began as a "dream" of 3 of us involved with the KYGenWeb Project and the KYGenWeb Archives, a centralized collection of Kentucky birth, marriage and death records, is now available in the first stages for Kentucky researchers. Currently, the browsable index lists all of the deaths in the KY Death Index (1911-1999). We are in the process of adding digital images and transcriptions of actual death certificates. These digital images and transcriptions will be linked to the browsable index as they are added to the collection. Records for this project will be a combination of researcher-contributed records and a coordinated extraction program so we can get them up as quickly as possible. We will begin adding birth records about 15 April 2004 and marriage records about 1 June 2004. As these records are added, they will also be linked to the index. (NOTE: Birth records will only be added for persons born before the year 1854, unless proof of death is provided. We want to ensure that the privacy and safety of living individuals is not compromised.) The browsable index will be a great help to KY researchers by itself, as you'll be able to search for those "creative" spellings that all of us have been blessed (or cursed) with. Tens of thousands of corrections have already been made to the original index. Corrections from site visitors are encouraged. As corrected or additional information is received on any of the records, it will be incorporated into the index for the benefit of future site visitors. In addition to the browsable index, be sure to check out the site search engine, as it will pick up additional information in the transcriptions (most importantly, parents' and spouse's names, if given). We invite everyone to stop in and check out this newest addition. Our hope is that you'll find some "treasures" here and that you'll then share your collections so that others can find theirs too. 3. Hi! I have two Hardin Slones in my FTM files. One is spelled Hardin (born abt 1816) and I don't have a wife for him. He is the son of Shadrack Slone and Catherine Reynolds (she is the sister to my great great grandfather Joseph Reynolds). The other one is Harden Slone, born 1837 to William (Jaw Bone Billy) Slone and Sarah Casebolt. Which one (if either) do you belong to? We do have a website for the Runnels of Reynolds Fork which is http://www.runnelsfork.com you might want to check it out since the Reynolds and Slones are very intertwined. Let me know, since several of my 'cousins' have a lot of knowledge and may be able to help you. I hope to hear from you soon. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: PRATER, MORRIS, CORNETT, HICKS, GEARHEART Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/4291.3 Message Board Post: I have a Prater problem that I hope you can help me solve. Some time ago, I posted a piece of information that I found about my second great grandmother, Ceatti Cornett, on the Floyd County message board. That piece of info now appears all over the internet as fact - all I was trying to do was get answers. Anyway, here goes . . . My 2nd great grandmother, Ceatti Morris (b.11-4-1834), daughter of John Morris (b. abt 1782), is said to be the daughter of Naomi Hicks and John Morris. This would seem true since it is reported that John Morris and Naomi Hicks married 11-28-1821. Naomi is still alive and in the household of John Morris in the 1850 census(reportedly as late as 1870 - However, I have not checked census records on that date). Ceatti married Wesley Cornett July 25, 1851 in Floyd County. The problem is that I found Ceatti's death certificate some time ago. Her son, John Cornett, reports that Sallie Prater is the mother of Ceatti Morris Cornett. On the Floyd County message board, I posed the question "Could John Morris have had three wives: Mary Gearheart (reportedly died before 1820), Naomi Hicks and Sallie Prater?" I wondered if the date for Naomi and John's marriage could be reported wrong (I do not have primariy documents for that date. I believe I got the information from Kozee's books.early in my research- did not document). It is now reported all over the internet that John Morris was married three times. I realize that sometimes people report information inaccurately on death certificates. It just seems strange to me that this name, "Sallie Prater," appeared out of nowhere. I realize there could be "hanky-panky" going on, but John Morris was a well respected Regular Baptist Preacher at the time. ("May Term: Monday the 15th day of May, 1820: . . . . John Morris produced credentials of his ordination and being in regular communion with the Baptist Society. (Annals of Floyd County, Kentucky 1800-1826; p. 184-5; Wells, Charles C.; Gateway Press, Inc.; Baltimore, 1983). That doesn't necessarily mean anything either, but I still think it strange that "Sallie Prater" would be reported as Ceatti's mother. Can you help solve this problem? Do you find any mention of John Morris in your database? Following is the death certificate information: Commonwealth of Kentucky Certificate of Death - File # 9190 Place of Death: Boyd County, Vot. Pct. 4 Mrs. Ceatty Cornette, Female, White, Widowed dob Nov 4, 1835, Age 76 years, 5 mos, 3 ds, Housewife birthplace: Floyd County, KY father: John Morris, Birthplace: Virginia Maiden name of Mother: Sallie Prater, Birthplace: not known informant: John Cornette, Ashland, KY, RFD #1 Filed April 8, J. F. Hutchinson Dod: April 7, 1912, Cause of death: stroke signed William DeBord, M.D
