    3. The Senate did not vote on the vital records bill yesterday. (HB100) They passed it over and did not vote on it. It still could come up for a vote before the sessions ends. To make your feelings known, contact the Senate: Out of State 502-564-8100 In Kentucky: 1-800-372-7181 You can leave a message for ALL Senators. If you do not live in Kentucky tell them that this bill affects your right to information about your family who died in Kentucky. Other states have solved the identity theft issue by issuing certificates that are non-certified and stamped "For Genealogical Use Only - Not For Identification." 1. [KYFLOYD] Re: Kentucky Vital Records 1911-1953 ordering information
    2. Sharon Pike
    3. I've gotten so many requests that I'd better clarify how to get copies of the non-certified death certificates for 1911 - 1953 from the Kentucky Historical Society. You have to GO to the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort to copy them yourself for .30. You can also request a library reference person to copy it for you by mail or online. The charge is $5 if you are in-state or $12 if you are out-of-state. If you want more than one certificate use the Staff Researcher service which is hourly. $25 per hour (or $15 if you are a member of the Kentucky Historical Society.) They can copy several in an hour. Please us the online index to get the certificate number and year that it was filed. (usually this is the same year as the death.) One of the easiest to use is the Kentucky Vital Records Project of the Kentucky Gen Web. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kvrp/ You can order the certificates online with a credit card from the Kentucky Historical Society. Go to http://history.ky.gov Click on "Shop the 1792 Store" Click on "research" By mail with a check in advance: Kentucky Historical Society Library 100 W. Broadway Frankfort, KY 40601

    3. I am working on my gr. grandmother Catharine "Kate, Caty" Gibson, who was born in Scott Co. VA between 1822-1830. Along with many other friends Gibson Researcher, I believe we are making headway back from 1860. I am a descendant of Catharine "Kate, Caty" Gibson who had 5 children with Elbe Collins. My grandfather Samuel Gibson was her second son of three born in Scott Co. VA before Kate was with Elbe Collins by 1857 and appeared in the 1860 Floyd Co. KY census with him and the first 2 of their 5 children. The only record of Kate and her sister being Hamiltons is from the records of my dear friends Aaron and Roma Tuttle and they got this from a very, very elderly person (now desceased) and could never varify it. Elbe's children always were with him after his divorce from Nancy Gibson in Hancock Co. TN. 4 of Elbe & Catharine's children were with him & Jane in 1870; Floyd Co. census; but child #5 Elvira Collins is with her mother in the 1870 Perry Co. KY census. Elbe's wife #1 was Nancy Gibson, dau. of Esau (Saul) Gibson and his wife Rachel. Esau was in the 1820 Scott Co. VA census then later in Hancock Co. TN, always near Elbe Collins's parents Allen and Rachel Collins. Our family researchers believe that Nancy, Catharine and Jane "Jennie" are all Gibson and related to each other. Catharine and Jane being sisters. I have the marriage record for Elbe Collins and Elizabeth "Betty" said to be a Wallen, but married as a Caudill. Floyd County Vital Statistics By C.E. Shepard page 6 17 Aug 1874 Unnamed still born daughter to Elbert ? Collins and Elizabeth Caudill on Beaver Cr., father born in Tn., mother born in North Carolina Elbe & Elizabeth Collins only living child was Cora Bell Collins who married William Collins son of Vardy Collins and Polly Johnson. I have very limited information but based on the grandson of Garfield he was married to Ellen Gayheart and had Edith Collins b Feb 21, 1909, Quentin, Edna, Jackie, Orphia and Kermit (not sure on order or dob of other children). This is an excerpt of the family history (from his grandson) we have on Garfield "I don't remember if I told you that his Grandfather Collins took off in his Jenny plane one day and was never heard from after that. They don't know if he crashed or just disappeared and started a new life somewhere else." This could be the same Garfield based on that information and Edith was in the Johnson County, Ky Census in 1930. Do you think it is possible this could be the same Garfield? I would guess his dob to be bef 1890.
