Surnames: FRANKLIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/5205 Message Board Post: The "Annals of Floyd County 1806-1826" has two entries regarding a Henry Franklin, son of Sally Franklin. He was indentured to Samuel May, house carpenter, at the May term (18 May 1818) of the Floyd County court. His indenture was read and recorded at the September term (21 Sep 1818). Can anyone provide any further info on this Henry Franklin? Or his mother, Sally Franklin? I'm trying to determine how he fits into the Franklins of Scott (VA), Floyd/Johnson and Letcher Counties (KY), who all seem to be descendants of Abraham "Abe" Franklin and Sally Spears. Also, I invite any Franklin researchers for these areas to contact me.

Evan is listed on the 1850 Floyd Co. Census in the same household with my GGGrandfather. Since they were also both born in Wales, close in age, with the same last name, I wonder if they are brothers or cousins. My GGgrandfather later moved to Breathitt Co. and is buried there. I see that Evan had a large family, and, I think, based on the 1880 census, that his son , James Jones, was a marshall in Prestonsburg. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/5186.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Probably the best way to get this cemetery cleaned is to get prisoners from the Floyd County Jailer. Roger Webb, the Jailer, will allow prisoners to work on cemeteries, with the provision that someone, who is resposnible for the cemetery gives permission, and a person is provided to show the prisoners what to do. In this case, Mrs. Marshall would probable be the owner, and her permission would be needed. This cemetery is very old. I will mention it in our next Floyd County Historical and Genealogical Society meeting. Maybe there is something we can do to get it cleaned up. The fact that John Walker Porter was a Revolutionary War soldier should cause our society to take some action. I'll let you know the outcome.
