    1. Sasser Worm
    2. Hi, I am sure you have all heard about this new sasser worm virus, you don't have to click on it or anything to get the virus, just simply logging on to the internet.  I thought I would pass this on to you all. I am not promoting McAfee just passin it along, I see there is an advantage to not having a new PC.........lol ........I am still  running windows 98. Jean http://jeanhounshellpeppers.com/mypage.html Dear Jean: The latest variant of Sasser, <A HREF="http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=10166">W32/Sasser.worm.d</A> is another Medium Risk Internet worm that exploits unpatched versions of Windows 2000 and XP operating systems, causing infected PCs to repeatedly reboot. You do not need to click anything to become infected with W32/Sasser.worm.d. Simply logging onto the Internet without the latest Windows patch or a reputable firewall can let in Sasser worms, which spread themselves by establishing remote connections to vulnerable computers, installing a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server, then downloading themselves to the new host. Sasser variants have infected between 100,000 and millions of PCs worldwide, according to estimates. Up-to-date McAfee VirusScan users with dat 4357 are protected from this threat. We also recommend fortifying your anti-virus software with a firewall. Together, they provide multi-layered protection against inbound and outbound malicious code. <A HREF="http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=10166">Learn More about W32/Sasser.worm.d</A> <A HREF="http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=10167">Scan for W32/Sasser.worm.d</A>  How to Protect Your PC:         Update your anti-virus DAT file. Download the latest Microsoft Windows operating system patch. On your Internet Explorer toolbar, go to Tools, select Windows Update then "Scan for updates." <A HREF="http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=10155">Install McAfee Personal Firewall Plus</A>. A secure barrier between your PC and unauthorized communication, a firewall will block Sasser-like worms before they can attack your PC.

    1. Ancestry.com is about to sell ALL FAMILY TREE's submitted free to them
    2. Sherie
    3. Received the following on several lists, passing along for those who may not have seen it yet. If you have submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com, you should know of the change about to be implemented by them. The Family Trees that have been donated to Ancestry for free distribution to other researchers are about to be sold by subscription: the OneWorldTree Preview cost will be $49.95 for 14 months. If you'd prefer that your information was not sold, there is a link below which will take you to a set of instructions on opting out by deleting your tree. After clicking on the link and arriving at the page, click on "What's a preview?" near the top of the page. Read thoroughly and then click on "View our checklist" (which appears on #3). Among other things, you will see the following sentence: "If for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of the new OneWorldTree service, you must delete it from the Ancestry World Tree database by tentatively May 21, 2004." This is the link: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/ About the world tree charge Feel free to pass all this on: http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/about.aspx ===== "When you were born, you cried and all the world rejoiced.
