It's a biblical name - Old Testament, if I remember correctly. I've seen it a few times, but always as a first, not surname.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAB.2ACI/5298.1.1 Message Board Post: Did your family care for any of these children? Do you know if there was a D.M. VAughan/Vaughn who married a Martha James and had a child named L.E. (we think Lonnie Edward, but it could have been Louie) around 1857? Lonnie came to West Virginia and was there in 1900 with an Anthelia Smith and they had three sons which are Alexander Edward or Edward Alexander (this one married a Bertha Tucker from Tennessee), but he was also called Ted, a Lonnie Edward and a George Garfield. They all moved to Georgia around 1930. L.E. was also married to a Bertha Duty and she died in Gadsden AL in 1920, Bertha and L.E. had children named Woody and William. Thanks for the reply

    2. Phyllis Reynolds Goelz
    3. It is my understanding that the Burga and Burgay names were derivatives of the Amburgey name. Somewhere along the line, the AM was dropped, whether for personal reasons or not I'm not sure. If so, we're definitely cousins, and I'll be glad to share what Amburgey info I have. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/5301 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Hezekiah/Kier Crisp, the son of Bailey Crisp and Nancy Salmons. From the information I have, he was born on 4/22/1858 in Floyd County. After his mother died in 1862, he was still listed in 1870 in the Floyd County Census with James and Jane Click. He was listed as 12 years old. That is where the trail for him ends. In a Pension report for Bailey, when it talks about his legitimate children, under his former marriage, it lists: Ann, Kier, and Newton Crisp and that Newton was the only one living and this report was dated on 12/1/1899. Any information on her would be greatly appreciated.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAB.2ACI/5298 Message Board Post: I am looking for a family in the Floyd County area that cared for three Vaughan/Vaughn children between 1910 and 1920. These children are Alexander Edward or Edward Alexander (Ted), George Garfield and Lonnie. These children were brought from West Virginia to Kentucky by their father L.E. Vaughan/Vaughn after May of 1910 and before September of that year. Their mother had died and their father brought them to (we think) relatives. He left them there and went back to West Virginia. They may have been here for years. George Garfield Vaughn lived in Floyd County at least from 1925 to 1928 as three of his children were born there. They are Evelyn, Edward and George Jr. Any help appreciated.
