I would appreciate any help in our endeavor. We have had some wonderful help from this site before. Here is what we know: Steven Earl Haywood is the son of Earl Haywood and Lucille Layne. He was born in 1954. Earl Haywood is the son of John Wesley Haywood and ?. Lucille is the daughter of ?. Earl Haywood grew up around Wayland, Kentucky. Anything that could get us started here would be apreciated greatly. We will be available to share this information with anyone who researches after us. We are also looking for any information still on Virginia Adkins, and her family. Her father is Samuel Adkins and her mother is Sina (?). We assume she was a Prater. Her name could also have been Sianne, considering that is a family name shared by many of my husbands cousins. They lived on Alum Lick Rd. formerly Risner. Thank you to all of you who got us this far!!! :)

Charles Franklin Ratliff ( not Charles Alfred Ratliff ) was my brother, however, my mother's maiden name Bowe is correct and there is a Bowe Cemetery outside of Louisa, Kentucky. Some of the Bowe names are Lebbeus Featherston Bowe (b.Jan.27, 1878)( my grandfather) he was the son of William Robert Bowe and Trinvilla Bradley, and was the grandson of John Garfield Bowe. Lebbeus( also known as Lebb or just L.F.) had 6 brothers that i know of: William Dallas Bowe (b. sept.25, 1868), Thomas H. Bowe (b.Feb. 23, 1871), Andrew H. Bowe (b.Aug.23, 1872), John W. Bowe (b.Apr.19, 1874), Noah Darsey Bowe (b. July 5, 1876) and Albert H. Bowe (Bert) (b.Feb.4, 1880). All were born on the family farm in Lawrence County, Kentucky. I know of no sisters. According to family tradition, my great-grandfather, John Wes Morris, was murdered in 1881 (presumably in Floyd County) by a Mr. Stambaugh (or Stambo) ---possibly a "William" Stambaugh/Stambo. John Wes Morris was married to Susanah (Martin) Morris and at the time of his death had a 2 year old son named A.L. (Buck) Morris (my grandfather). Susanah Morris later re-married a Green Turner. I need to find ANY info. possible on the murder of my great-grandfather and the circumstances surrounding it. I would even like to hear from any descendants of Mr. Stambaugh/ Stambo (no, not to re-start any family feud -- just to compare family stories -- if any)

Nancy I checked David Spurlock and Alex Lackey in the Floyd County Deed book and since they lived on Beaver Creek, I think it is safe to assume that your Boaz Mannin also lived there. Road work was generally assigned to people who used that portion of the road. Beaver Creek is in present day Floyd County. Hope that helps. Regards.
