James Mellon and his brother Beverly Mellon were shot to death on Sunday, Aug. 8 of that year. About five weeks later, Beverly Mellon's son, Bev Jr., shot and killed Prestonsburg police chief Jim Sizemore at the courthouse on a Saturday. Verlie Banks and Ben Layne were tried and found not guilty in the Mellon shootings. Bev Mellon Jr. was also acquitted. My grandfather was James "Jim" Boyd of Floyd County KY. He was born on May 2 1900 and died in Pike County on December 20 1956. I know that he still has living realitives in the Dana and Tram area. James Boyd's father was Nelson "Nelse" Boyd of Floyd County KY. Mother was Rose Ann Patton. She died when he was around 14 or 15 years of age. His grandfather was Andrew "Andy" Boyd and his grand mother was Rose Ann Conn. All of these individuals are from Floyd County KY. His great grand father is likely to be John Boyd and great grandmother Nancy Daniels? Boyd. Rose Ann Conn 's parents were probably William and Sarah Conn. These individuals are listed on the 1870 Floyd County Census. He was known as Jim Boyd, with brothers Jack, Worley, Virgil, and Bill. Sisters Lucy and Ollie.

My grandfather was Tony Slone, son of William P. Slone. Tony married my grandmother, Corsbie Gibson, daughter of Miles M. and Margaret Gibson, in 1907. Corsbie was born in 1890 and was the second oldest of 13 children, the youngest girl of which is still living (Geneva Triplett, aged mid-90's). I know alot about Corsbie and Tony, but I want to know more about the family farther back (as far as you can tell me).
