Emily is 24 at this time. We thought she probably was related but I suppose it is possible she isn't. Jonathan is listed at a farmer and thre is another Milton Mayo age 28 born in Edgar Co IL listed as a shoe maker. That's what I was basing my supposition on. I know that Emily had a brother named Major H. Wood Martin who also came from Floyd County. Nothing in their obituaries refers to parents but Emily's says she is the last of 5 children. IIf you run across anything at all I'd appreciate the information. You might want to write directly to me at gaylewll@juno.com as this is a two week trial that I won't be able to keep much longer. If you will let me E mail you direct I have a picture of Emily with my great-grandmother. Thanks for your help! Gayle

May not be your Jontahan but a large coincidence if not. I have the Martin Book by Walter S. Martin. It covers several East Ky counties including Floyd,Knott and Perry. I have most of in my file and do not see Louvenia Emily Martin. Are you certain that she is a sister of Jonathan's wife? When was Louvenia born? Are there any Martin familys in Edgar and Coles counties at this time? My GGgrandmother was Sarah Martin who's father was William Martin. One of the early settlers of East Ky. I am also interested in Edgar and Coles counties because one of my Gearheart ancestors married in Coles Co. Another married Susan Morgan in Edgar Co.,Ill in 1868. Herb

My Mary would have been a Martin unless she was married before or something. My ancestor was called Louvenia Emily Martin and she married James Gilbert in Paris, IL (his second marriage, her first). There was also a brother named H. "Wood" Martin who was in Paris for a time and then moved further sound in Illinois.

She had one child by him and later married Wm. Felix Green, by whom she had four or five children, the youngest being my gr.grandfather, James Newton Green. All indicators point to her being of the Floyd Co, KY Gearharts, but we haven't been able to connect her, nor have we found where she married Johnson Lackland. Any ideas?
