At any rate, I will let you know what I find as soon as I look at it more closely. Thanks again; I didn't really expect a reply that quickly!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAB.2ACI/5329.1.2 Message Board Post: I noticed your last name and thought I'd venture an email re my gr.gr.grandmother, Mary Gearhart Lackland Green, who d. in Lewis Co, MO ca l866. For years I had searched for her as Mary Lackland who m. Wm. Felix Green in Lewis Co in l826, the census giving both of their birth years as l795. Only after assembling a hefty file of material did I re-read my gr.grandfather's obit, which mentioned a half-sister. I pursued her, finding that her mother's maiden was Gearhart, sometimes shown as Gayhart, and some avenues led me to Floyd Co, KY. Someone from there sent me a lengthy piece of the Gearharts thereabouts, but nothing to connect my Mary. Any ideas?

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pAB.2ACI/5355 Message Board Post: To Whom It May Concern: My name is Lauren Bobier and I am an editor with Arcadia Publishing in Charleston, SC. I hope that you can offer me some guidance and assistance. As the editor responsible for all of our Kentucky titles, I'm very interested in informing Floyd County historians, genealogists, archivists, community leaders, and museums about the opportunities that we offer. We publish a popular series of photographic histories called Images of America, which chronicles the histories of communities, towns, and neighborhoods throughout the country. I do want to emphasize that, unlike many local history publishers, we are not a vanity press. Rather, we finance the entire publication and pay royalties to the author, which makes it a great fundraiser for organizations. I am interested in adding a photographic history of Floyd County to our 2005 program. If you would like to receive more information about our company and a complimentary book as a gift and a reference, I will be happy to put together a package and mail it to you. Please pass along my contact information to anyone else you know who might be interested in working on a photographic history of Floyd County. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon! Lauren Bobier Acquisitions Editor Arcadia Publishing, 420 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 tel. 843.853.2070 (ext 128) fax 843.853.0044 www.arcadiapublishing.com

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pAB.2ACI/4706.2.3 Message Board Post: I am very interested in seeing info about the Akers family back to William in England, 1645. My branch of the family is from southern West Virginia for the last two- three generations, at least, and so I think it likely that they came out of eastern Kentucky. I'm just beginning my search, so I have a huge number of blanks, and would love to be able to go further back than my great-grandfather, Robert N. Any help you can give me would be so appreciated!
