Your grandmother died when my mom was a baby so they didn't know each other, unfortunately. I don't have a picture of Rhodes, but I'm trying to get some of my cousins to look for pictures. I only have one of my grandfather. I have a zeroxed copy of Rhodes parents, but it's a bad copy. (I'm still not convinced Victoria is Rhodes mother). If you open the files in a picture viewer you may be able to enlarge them on the computer. I'll try to find a better way to send them.

Rhodes and my grandfather, William McKinley Newsom, were Harrison Newsom's sons. I will scan the information I have and send to your e-mail address that is on this site. The documents are not the best quality, but we'll see how it turns out. Also, I saw that Lovina was listed as a widow in 1920, so I think Rhodes died between 1916 and 1920.

I have a School Census from 1900 (but it lists everyone between 6 and 20) that shows Rhodes as head of house and has himself and Louvina listed as under 20. Her date of birth is listed as July 4th 1882 and his is listed as June 13th 1882. I have a copy of their marriage license showing they were married Nov 17th 1898 at the Home of Harrison Newsom in Floyd Co (I thought Harrison lived in Pike at that time), witnesses were Andy Hamilton and John W. Hamilton. Is there any way you could be off on the birthdates? Thanks, Carol

Dau of James Ward and Lucinda Meeks. James and Lucinda were in the 1860 Johnson Co.,Ky census. Hiram appears not to have been in the 1850 Floyd Co.,Ky census since I have the "complete" census from 50,60,70 and 80 and 1910 in my file.
