That also means that several family books are all wrong also. The Rice Family, The Allen Family, The Patton Family to name of few of the Floyd County Families that have written their family history to include Elizabeth Allen and Thomas "Tom" Alexander Walker as the parents of those 5 children. Besides the late Genealogist C.E. Shepard's records who had this couple as the parents. Strange all those families came up with the same couple. Anyway, the photo is legit because it is the Walker Clan as they are called of Prestonsburg,Floyd County, KY. We have no idea who is who in the photo. The father of these 5 children we discussed would have been deceased in 1850 and this photo is probably late 1800s so he wouldn't be in the photo. The 1850 census showing the Elizabeth Walker household with the two Hackworth children, Charity and Nicholas Hackworth, is the John West Walker family. John West Walker had a sister, Charlotte West Walker, who married a Nicholas Hackworth. They were both deceased by 1847 and their children had to go live with family. Charity and Nicholas Hackworth went to live with their Aunt Elizabeth Franklin Walker. John West Walker was deceased prior to 1850. Elizabeth Franklin Walker had 2 children from her first marriage to George Hackworth who died in 1832. She then married John West Walker in 1835. John and Emily are her two Hackworth children from her 1st marriage. Louisa J., James Lawrence and Thomas W. are her children from John West Walker. James was my great grandfather. He married Jane Hutton and is on the 1880 census, pg 6, with Jane and his three children, Frank, Lottie and Fredy (Frank was my grandfather). They were l! iving in Buse Floyd Co and so was Elizabeth Franklin Walker and Thomas W. Walker, just down the street, pg 5. Louisa was also living just down the street, you see her family on the next page. The census was taken June 7, 1880, they would go from house to house. Families lived close by. Their eldest child was Elizabeth Allen who married Thomas Alexander Walker of Floyd County, KY. The children born to Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Allen are as follows: John, Emily, Louisa, James, and Thomas. They are listed in the 1850 Floyd County Census along with their mother. Thomas was already deceased at that time. I have the Allen ancestry back for decades...but the Walker family we don't have any farther then Thomas Alexander Walker but we feel he is descended from Dr. Thomas Walker of Virginia.
