While we know quite a bit about him, Mary Susan has been elusive. I understand she went by Susan but have tried several name variations without much success. She married Thomas Jefferson Poe (listed as Post)in 1879 and they appear on the 1880 Floyd Co. census, then she disappears for 41 years until she marries Rev. Thomas J. Riggs, who dies 4 or 5 years later. She died in 1944 in Westwood, Boyd Co. Whether she had any kids or not I don't know. There is one grandaughter or step great grandaughter (Goldie Rice, born 1916)listed but I can't place her either. There are several Tom Poes floating around during that time but different locations, different wives, different birthplace. I heard he went by "Jefferson" and not "Tom" but there are no Jefferson Poes anywhere. I've spent the better part of a week searching for info on her. I'm getting discouraged.
