Layne, age 76, of Marion passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at 1:50 p.m. in the Marion General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on February 20, 1936 in Wayland, Kentucky, one of twelve children, to the late Buck and Eva (Terry) Layne. On February 1, 1960, he married Marlene Short in Colorado Springs, Colorado while serving in the U.S. Army. They just celebrated 53 years together. After leaving the Army, he and Marlene returned to Marion. Bobby worked at Tecumseh Products for 29 years. He was also partners in an antenna service as well as being employed for 3 years with the Whirlpool Corp. During his many years of employment, he also worked as a security guard with the Marion Industrial Center and a sales associate at Dunham's Sporting Goods. After leaving there, he was a top agent and sales manager for Western & Southern Life Insurance Company for 13 years. During this time, he was ordained as a minister and served the House of Prayer (now Family Life Church). He later served as Assistant Pastor at Fountain Street Marion IPCC. Following this, he served as Pastor at Salem Church of God for! 12 years, retiring due to ill health. Bobby became ordained with the Church of God, General Conference Findlay Division on July 25, 2005. He is still a member of Salem Church of God but was unable to attend due to his health issues. He was a man who dearly loved people, never met a stranger, and missed the serving of his friends during the last 3 years. He faught a good fight and always kept his faith. Bobby is now at peace with his Saviour, family, and friends in Heaven. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his wife, Marlene; his four children, Kenneth H. Persinger, Theresa R. (Bryan) Siders, Melissa J. (Roger) Rice, and Robert J. (Tracey) Layne; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceed in death by a son, Timothy C. Persinger; seven brothers, and four sisters. Friends may call at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church today, Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastors Barkley Slone, Grover Caudill, & Harry Meade. A pallbearer will be Michael Litz. The Marion Co. Veterans Council will be providing Military Honors. Memorial gifts in Bobby's name may be given to the Salem Church of God or to the Eye-to-Eye Support Group. Condolences to the family may be expressed at: www.boydbornfuneralhome.com . Hackworth (Elizabeth Franklin's son) living with John P Martin and Elizabeth Lackey Martin in the 1860 Floyd Co Ky census. John P Martin could be a brother or nephew of Millicent Martin and John F Hackworth would be Millicent Martin's grandson living with Martin family. I have an Anderson Prater in my line and i would like to figure out who his parents were. this is not the anderson prater from greenup county, this is what i know about my anderson prater he married margarett miller in 1878 they had the following children sidney, polly, nancy, john, phoebe, maude. he was also married to mary wright which is where my line is at and had the following children betty lona, cal (also seen as darwin callahan, or cally) and milton i have only been able to find one childhood census for him so far in 1880 list his parents as john prater and polly prater, sibilings william h and nancy j. what makes this difficult is there are a ton of john and polly praters, and the worst part is the anderson prater that is around the same age in greenup county parents names are john and polly as well. this anderson prater is also not the one who married mary daniels in pike county thanks jdw7162@yahoo.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
