The death record for EDWARD identifies his father as JAKE and his mother was not identified..... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is a small booklet by Henry P. Scalf and it is called Voices of Old Men. Henry Scalf did this in 1965. It is written about William Patrick Vaughan in North Carolina and married Fair-a-Bee-Lunah. From there, the Vaughans pioneered to Arkansas and Kentucky and some on to Oklahoma. And then many descendants are listed in Kentucky Ancestors Quarterly Autumn 2011. This is not my line, but it is interesting. Good Luck! Your post is 10 years old. I hope you're still around. Elizabeth Pet Salisbury was born 7 Jun 1893 and died 31 Mar 1973 in Floyd Co. In her marriage certificate in 1916 in Floyd Co., KY to Parmer Salisbury (son of Lacky and Kate Stumbo Salisbury) she says her mother is Lissie Austen and her father is William Salisbury. My mother and her brothers and sisters called Pet Salisbury "Aunt Pet" and she was mentioned among the survivors on my G Grandmother Laura Salisbury Halbert's obituary as her half sister. Pet is with her mother in Floyd Co in 1900 and 1910 census. In 1900 they all have the surname "Bently". Elizabeth "Pet"Salisbury is called "Lizzie". In 1910 they use the surname "Austin". Malicia continues using Austin and the children are called Salisbury in the later census. In Malicia Austin's will in Floyd Co and she names her children: W.E. Salisbury, Sarah Salisbury, and Pet Salisbury. A deed later concerning a conveyence of some of the property having belonged to Willam "Bud" Salisbury names Pet Salisbury as his heir. Malicia Austin was born 23 Feb 1864 and died 17 April 1945 in Floyd Co., KY. She was the daughter of Lucy Bently (1843-1867) and Andrew Jackson "Jack" Austin born Virginia in 1840 and died in Ft Douglas, Illinois on 28 Jan 1864. She was raised by her mother's parents. If you have an questions, just ask. It's good to meet you, cousin :) Sorry it took so long for me to see your post. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. As you may know, Bill Halbert and many of his children had a hereditary bleeding disease known as Osler-Weber-Rendu Syndrome or more scientifically as Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia. It is a dominant hereditary disease meaning one of the parent must have it also. To my knowledge, Bill's mother (Margaret Reynolds) did not have this disease. Do you know if Tom Halbert or either of his parents exhibited the symptoms: nose bleeds, red spots on the lips or tongue or other parts of the body? And if you have any stories, photos or even anecdotal information on Tom Halbert or his parents, I would love to get a copy. Please email me at planetdavis@gmail.com. Author: SongerMark Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.floyd/10016/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for information on a Jim Devore who worked as an oil driller for Oak Smith (?) in Allen, Ky (near Paintsville and Prestonburg), from appx 1928 until at least 1930. He was associated with a Merrie (Mary?) Kiser and both were known to stay in Catlettsburg, Ky, at times. Also associated with this group is a Mrs. Ellen Devore. Jim (James I. Devore, b 1875) and Ellen (b 1888) lived in Cabell Co., WV, in 1920 and may have moved to Charleston, Kanawha County, WV during the 1920s. They had three children in 1920 (Willie, 16, Roma, 14, and Albany, 11) and had another son born circa 1920. Between 1928 and 1930, Ellen moved to Huntington with her son. The 1930 Census shows a 34 y/o Mary Kiser living in a boarding house in Catlettsburg with three daughters and a son (Gladys, Opal, Beulah, and Curtis, respectively). No, they are not related to me, but yes, there is a story here. I have a good sized piece of it already but would like to find out the conclusion (and maybe the preface). Does any of this ring any bells? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
