I am related to the Vaughans who married into the Burchett family and moved to Missouri, I believe. It was my great grandmother, Arminta Vaughan, [1848-1923] daughter of Leroy Vaughan, [1813-1912] and Amanda Mill, Leroy's daughter, Letitia married a Burchett. There are 3 deeds. 1848, 1849 and 1854. There are all for Caney Creek. I do have most of their desc in my database. Maybe I could get a match with another Johnson-maybe from one of John's brothers? I would be interested in learning about more of the Johnsons in this area. Both during the 1800's and present time. Would appreciated any help. Desperate for even a nibble... This is from information given by her husband, John Wesley Grubb, on her death certificate. But, when I look at the 1880 Census, it shows John Carr and Arminta not with a daughter Josephine aged 2, but a daughter Sarah aged 2. More investigation is required! I guess I should assume that John Wesley Grubb knew who his wife's parents were! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've been doing Ancestry and family trees for almost 20 years now across the USA. I've done thousands of family trees for thousands of families and it has been a blast! Over the last 6 months I've put together the how to guide I wrote on finding your ancestors, breaking down those walls and finding the answers you have had a hard time looking for. You can get a free copy if you would like :) In addition to the guide I wrote, I also made a point and click program that works on any computer, PC or Apple, Windows. Gives you point and click access to Census, family trees, cemeteries, Revolutionary War, civil war, WW1, WW2 and Korean War, old land deeds, obituaries old state maps, county formations Slave index, Indian rolls and hundreds of thousands of searchable newspaper archive from the mid 1850s to today just to name a few along with thousands of Facebook groups and social media groups to network with others, finding family in other states and trading old ancestor pictures! Also threw in my guide to Native American heritage ancestry. Can be difficult figuring out which tribe your ancestors came from. From the thousands of family trees I have done, quite a few of them had roots that went into tribes all across the USA, so I have quite a bit of experience in the area of native American ancestry. All family trees spread out in many states, So I have included every state in my program :) Every State and Every county in the USA. So, whether your just getting started in ancestry or if you have been doing it for years, my Ancestor Hunt program will help you out and help you break down the walls. I've also included a database of people across the USA in each state that offer free lookups, so if you can't get to a certain state or if it's too far away just contact these people and they will do their best to help you out :) Also included is easy family tree program that is by far the easiest program to create your actual family tree. You can create your tree, Save it, print it out or publish it online, all from my program. If you would like a free copy just send me a e-mail ancestorhunt1958@gmail.com There is a $6.00 shipping handling fee, to cover the shipping and creation of the CD-ROM. As I said before it works on any platform computer. PC, Apple, any version of windows etc. Happy Hunting!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I saw your remarks and thought I would respond. You may already know this. Most Damerons/Damrons around that I hear from around Pike/Floyd county came as a result of land grants issued around 1770-80. At that time, Pike and Floyd county were both called Floyd county (I think). I know for a fact there are Solomon and related Damron grave sites on Hurricane Creek on the Pike County line. On the grant are signatures of different Damrons like Lazarus, George ?? I have a photo copy somewhere of some of those grants I secured some years back. Dameron/Damrons also have grants from Shelby -Virgie and Marrowbone areas. I did do lots of research about 10 years ago and took a break. I am currently researching to find a (internet)direct pathway From Dorothy Roach and Lawrence Dameron to the Sir Phillipe DAmeron (1400-1500). If we can identify that relationship, maybe some (or all) of us Damrons can claim ownership to the Dameron/Damron Family Coat of Arms. My parents have had one hanging in my home for 40 or 50 years. My dad is from the Elkhorn and mom from the Marrowbone areas of pike. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thomas Lewis had 3 wives. The third wife, Delilah Blankenship gave birth to Christopher Columbus Lewis. He is my 2nd great grandfather. Christopher married Nancy A Galloway and later moved west. If you know anything about this family, you know there are discrepancies as to Thomas Lewis ancestry. Thomas Lewis has indicated Portugal ancestry. Some researchers have linked him to the Warner Hall Lewis family. Probably NOT the case. I would love any information anyone can give me to understand the history of my family!
