Andy and Rosa's first child, Arminta was born in 1899 and their second was born in 1901. I think they may have the date of my mother's mother whose name was Cathalina Lena Newsom, death confused with that of Catherine (or Katherine) Hall Newsom as she supposedly died in 1917 or 1918. It would be nice to know as I do not have the exact death date for my grandmother, Cathalina or her place of burial either. Catherine Hall was my grandfather's mother and Cathalina was my grandmother's mother. Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Ancestry.com, family tree by Denise Newman Stapleton, says that Cathalina is buried on Greenbury Hall Cemetery, Frasures Creek, Floyd Co. Frasure's Creek is near McDowell, off 122. The cemetery is about 3 miles up. Many other trees on ancestry also state the same cemetery, no sources given for any of them. I checked the inventory for that cemetery and only found the following Newsom's: Charlie Newsome 3/3/1905-8/19/1989 Cherity Bernice Newsome d. 12/16/1999 d/o Matt Newsome and Nicole Lieurance Lily Mae Newsome 11/8/1905-6/11/1977 Mary Newsome 4/20/1904-9/9/1983 Pricie Newsome 8/17/1895-10/17/1976 The only Cathalena I can find is the wife of Caleb Newsom ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 07, 2008 5:06 PM Subject: Re: [KYFLOYD] Catherine Hall Newsom > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: cmherbert191 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.floyd/9735.1.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > thanks for responding to my query but I don't think the book is correct > because Andy Newsom was already married to Rosa Anzilee Hopkins prior to > 1918. She died in 1917 (not sure what month) shortly after the birth of her last child, Margaret. I am interested in knowing when and where she died and where she is buried. She was the daughter of Ira Epison Newsom and Margaret Jones and the grandaughter of Robert Newsom and great granddaughter of Frederick Newsom. Any help appreciated. Author: cmherbert191 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.floyd/9559.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi! just reading some of the messages you received re your post. James Emory Hall was the brother of my great-grandmother, Catherine Hall. He was also the father of my father's first wife, Rebecca Hall. Rebecca died sometime in the 1930's as my Dad married my Mom (the grandaughter of Catherine Hall). I have a copy of a cookbook which was put out by the Hall family and it is dedicated to J.E. Hall. On the front cover is a picture of J.E. and his second family which was taken in 1943. It states in the book that at the time the 1943 picture was taken that Minda, Rebecca, Hattie and Laura were deceased. They also refer to his first wife as Mary Akers (not Nora). Sometimes the information report on the websites were taken from census records and these are not always accurate as they are prone to human error, e.g. writing the name Nora rather than Mary as that may have been the name the census taker heard when he was collecting the information. I had five half brothers an! d two half sisters who were born of my Dad and Rebecca's marriage. If there is anything further that you can think Imight be able tohelp you with, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards - Rebecca (yes, I was named for the first wife !!!)
