James would have had powerful reasons for doing so...given the ages of the children.. Family and friends fixed widowed fathers of young children up quickly..from my experience.. Could be that Mary was removed from the home for health reasons?? Possibly she left the home for her own reasons?? This would account for the lack of facts...My east Ky kin would never talk about embarassing family matters..even if all of the principals were dead... I have no parents for either wife...Minda...may be Arty or Arminda and could be the dau of William B. Hall??? Do you mean Newsom???? The married 3 years seems appropriate as their first child was born in 1899. The "married 13 years" presumably refers to the year the census was taken in 1910 so that would mean he married Rosa in 1897. The date of birth of his last child by his first wife was Dec. 1896, a girl, Arminda (not to be confused with Arminta (by his second wife). Likely, Catherine died as a result of childbirth. A son, Preston was born in 1895 by his first wife. Two prior sons born in 1890 and 1893. Thanks for your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
