My info shows that David and Eliza may have married on the 29th of Jan 1878 in Floyd Co.,Ky...The two sons are John B. and George W. age 19 and 16...Therefore sons of his first possible marriage...to unknown.     3. Per Head o' Lickin' And There Abouts by Clarence E. Shepherd: John Hale first married Tobitha Mainard in the early 1830's; he married second in Foyd County May 7, 1838 to Lovina Stone who was born 1820 in NC to Enoch and Nancy Stone. John Hale was murdered in 1863 whle working in his fields. It is told that he had some gold pieces in his pocket and that his brother in law, Harvey Stone, tracked dwon and killed two of the three men who murdered John. John Hale in this book is listed as being born 1803 in Virginia. Should you wish further info, will be glad to look up in the above referenced book. Emotions get in the way of thinking. At least this certificate had someone trying to answer the questions. Many are filled out with 'unknown' simply because it's a difficult time to think.
