Hi, I've been doing a lot or reading of early KY history. Block Houses were built at the stations for protection during Indian attacks. People on outlying farms would come into the Block Houses if they were lucky to hear ahead of time that Indian raiding parties had crossed the Ohio river and were heading their way. Bryants Station was one of the early stations, or settlements contemporary with Boonesborough and Harrodsburg. I can't find the map I saw which showed whereit was located and dated about 1779. Some of the stations developed into towns and some did not. Perhaps someone else will give you more information on that. Betty Silfies
