    3. Hi Susan and list. Yesterday, I was looking at an early city directory for Lexington. I can't remember which one it was but it was either 1838 or before. There was a page in there about the lunatick asylum. I think it had a list of staff. Might have a hint. If you are interested in more specifics about the source, please e-mail me off-list. Also, I have had wonderful success in using the Lexington Public Library for research in the Kentucky Gazette. I remember reading just yesterday in one of those early directories that the Kentucky Gazette was the first newspaper in Lexington. It was started early 19th c. Did the early census list the inmates of an institution as such? I can't remember. I didn't write all these things down specifically because they weren't what I was looking for but I remember seeing them.
