Dear Lynette, I found 1 Daly in Perrin's book. Lawrence Daly is listed as being a private in Capt. Oliver H. Beard's Company that fought the Mexicans in Texas (page 439) and a member of the "Old Infantry" (page 444). O.P. Beard is listed as being elected as a director in 1867 to the Kentucky Society for promoting Agriculture (page 124). He is also mentioned as one of "the principal racing names" in regard to horses (166). A J. H. Beard, "the American Landseer," visited Lexington & painted portraits (375). Col. Beard is listed as 3rd assistant Marshall in the parade to greet Gen. LaFayette in 1825 (405). Henry Beard was in Hart's Company for the War of 1812 (420). Captain Oliver H. P. Beard Company was attached to Col. Humphrey Marshall's regiment in the Mexican War in 1846 & fought at Buena Vista (436). On page 440 Capt. Beard gives an account of the battle. If you're interested I'll scan it & email it to you. Page 441 says Capt. Beard left with 78 men & returned with 43. O.P. is listed as a private in the Lexington Guards, the last military company formed by the city. On page 556 it mentions how R. M. Adams served in the Mexican War as a member of Company K, First Kentucky Calvary under Captain O. P. Beard. Page 574, in 1836 Thomas Bradley married Isabel, "daughter of Henry Beard, of Fayette whose family lineage is traced from Scotland. Col Beard, while a soldier in 1812-13, was captured by the Indians at the River Raisin, ran the gantlet, escaped, received his discharge at Niagara Falls, and returned on foot, to his home in Lexington." A last mention is made on page 655 about how Gen. John H. Morgan served with Capt. Beard at Buena Vista. While I was browsing the Internet earlier I found this entry for a Sarah Beard: Sarah Beard - Fayette County Will Book A, page 406 - Names sons, William Beard, Joseph Beard; granddaughters, Nancy McGowan, Sally Beard, (daughter of Joseph), Sally Beard (daughter of Wm. Beard). Written September 30, 1805; probated October, 1806. Executors - Wm. Beard, Joseph Beard. Witnesses - F.
