There were German prisoners that helped on surrounding farms during the World War II period. I heard my husband speak of having them on their farm at Stamping Ground because our men had gone off to fight and there was a lack of help to do the crops. He said they were well behaved and talked through an interpreter. My husband's grandfather came to the United States from Germany and the prisoners knew people by our surname back in Germany. I remember seeing some, but cannot remember where now. It was a long time ago.
