Alan, fantastic...just fantastic.....This Henry Irving was my Grand Father....at 16 yrs a messenger for Western Union Telegraph Co....and 96 N Upper was the old homeplace of Letitia's father, Samuel Long, a noted builder in Lexington in the first half of the 1800's...Margaret L is Margaret Long, known later as Aunt Molly Long. With all that said....I am mystified regarding the 1895 Directory.....There is my Grandfather, now 21, working as a plumber which he continued throughout his life. William, plumber, is Henry's younger Brother born 1876......but I have no inkling regarding a David Irving living in the same household......I have never heard of a David Irving in conjunction with this family....perhaps it's back to the drawing board with a new name.......I have a copy of Thomas & Letitia Marriage return but not the license or the application which might tell more about my Thomas....Henry married Mayme Rogers (who had a brother Deweese) in 1898 with this William and Mayme's Sister as witnesses..... I also have no idea regarding Maria, Mary, Thomas listed but think maybe you indicated their residence at 54 N Upper. Your data also proves that Thomas Irving was definitely gone from the house hold by 1890 and his family was living with Aunt Molly Long at 96 N Upper... ....and Letitia is listed as a "Widow".. Would there be any further data David Irving in later Directories? or other sources???? Would appreciate any direction you could offer. I will of course go directly to Family Research Library to search for a David Irving......Would be pleased to reimburse any expenses... Thanks Again, Alan..... Old Hal, from sunny Northern California!
