I am a descendant of Michael DUMFORD who died in Apr1792 at Boone's Station, Fayette Co., KY (NOT Ft. BOONESBOROUGH, on the Kentucky River in Madison Co., KY - near the Clark Co., line). Can some one give me an idea on how to obtain information about this Station. All I know is that it was founded by one of Daniel Boone's brothers. It is located on Rt 418, somewhere near Athens, KY. Last summer I drove that stretch of highway several times, in search of the right place. I stopped in Athens and asked everyone I could find, about it. No one seemed to know anything, except that several years ago a sign used to be up somewhere in Athens. I'd like to find any literature about Boone's Station i.e. list of founders, ledgers, diaries, etc. Can anyone steer me in the right direction. My DUMFORD family was connected to HORN and CROWE.
