I am trying to find information regarding my husband's family. I can trace him back to Thomas DOWNING who married Sarah HARDESTY in Fayette County, KY, Dec. 24, 1849, and later moved to Mclean County, IL. Their children were Sarah, John, Desdamona, Samuel, Marcus, Charlie,Wm., Milton, and Jessie. Bondsman at Thos. and Sarah's wedding was Salem Downing.Could he have been Thomas' father? I can trace Salem back to the Francis Downing who married Susannah in Maryland, moved to Fayette County, KY and died there in 1814.
