    3. Nancy Foley Johnson: Hello Carol, Hello, I have recently been made aware that my grandmother was a teacher at Maxwell St Public School - prior to her marriage (c1921?). [Nancy Johnson] First of all, what was her name then? Is your family from Fayette Co.? Please, is anybody able to point me in the right direction for information on this school? [Nancy Johnson] The Fayette Co. Public Schools Administrative Offices are located at: 701 E. Main St. Lexington, KY 40508 [Nancy Johnson] Is it still there? [Nancy Johnson] No, that bldg. is gone and a new one has replaced it. It is on the corner of Maxwell St. and Woodland Avenue. I have found an old postcard picture on the Lexington history museum site. [Nancy Johnson] Do a Google search for 'Fayette Co KY Roots Web Site' and it should bring up all sorts of sites of interest. I have not checked it out in a long time and do not remember if it has anything on Maxwell Sch. But it is worth a try. Does anyone remember attending there? I would be most interested. [Nancy Johnson] I attended 1-6 grades there, as did my father, who would have been there during her time, but he is deceased. I have some of her class work and notes, but was never sure where she taught or if they were college notes. [Nancy Johnson] Do you have any grade or roll books that would list names? If so, send me some, and if I know them and/or can find them in the phone book, I will send you their phone numbers and you can talk to them. Of course, they would be ancient, but some might still have their facilities. Let me hear from you. I went there in 1936-7 in the first grade. I "think" my teacher's name was Ms. Highfield but not positive. That was a LONG time ago.Eloise in Lexington ------------------------------ To contact the KYFAYETT list administrator, send an email to KYFAYETT-admin@rootsweb.com.
