    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] KY Gorham's
    2. Hi, Here's what I have. Thomas Gorham and Margaret Cotton, of Fairfax, VA, had numerous children, most born in Loudon Co., VA. One of their daughters, Frances "Frankie" Gorham, married George Bournaugh. I have a transcribed copy of part of his will from Will Book D, p. 134 Bourbon Co., KY., written Nov. 3, 1790, proved Dec. 1810. What I have is actually three pages of articles transcribed from, "The Kentuckian-Citizen, Paris, KY." Courtesy of Margaret and Al Spiry. It even mentions the second marriage of George Burnoe (s/o Thomas and Elizabeth) on 3-1-1860 to Hannah Craig at Covington, KY. It also mentions all the different ways they spelled their name. Let me know if any of this is new to you and I'll send you transcribed copies of the papers. The article goes so far as to mention Lewis Burnau, b. 2-22-1861, Preble Co., OH, moved 6-10-1926 to Memphis, married Ellen (Davis) Melshmer, b. 3-12-1885, in Indianapolis, and they had Raymond Burnau, b. 8-10-1896, MS, who married 2nd Quinn (Parks) White, and they had Helen Ann Burnau, b. 7-8-1942 at Baptist Hosp., Memphis TN. That was the condensed version. The line I'm trying to prove is that John Gorham, oldest brother of Frankie Gorham Burnaugh, removed to NC, and was one of the settlers that came to Kentucky and helped establish Fayette Co. with Daniel Boone. John had, among other children, twins boys, John and George, and another son William. (George's son was a representative of KY, and one of the articles tells that a powder horn that belonged to George's father John, hangs in the courthouse, with George's name and date of birth on it, next to a portrait of Daniel Boone.) We think William may be the father of my Sanford Gorham from his first marriage to a Gunn. Sanford was born in 1812 in KY. Married a Mahulda "Hulda" Freeman, b. 1815 TN, married in the mid 1830's. Anyway, I'd be glad to transcribe some of these articles for you or anyone else if you think it contains some information that you haven't come across yet. I have to give credit to the wonderful people who shared this info with me and went out of their way to help me in my search. The information was provided by Al and Margaret Cotton Spiry. Genealogist's, Columnists and probably the most knowledgeable people on this line of Gorham's that I have come across. Thank you for responding. I was beginning to wonder if anyone had seen my post or ever even heard of the name Gorham. (Which, by the way, I now have over 25 different spellings of the name.) The Gorham family married into the family I have been doing research on - Burnoe/ Burnaugh/Burnaw/Burnau - Thomas Gorum (Gorham) Burnau married Elizabeth McCausland in Paris, Bourbon County, Ky.March 27, l8l7. They moved to Preble County, Ohio in the Fall of l8l9 according to family records. I do not know where her folks came from into Ky. or where the Gorhams were from - one researcher told me they were from Fauquier County, Va. - Do you have this information - I'll do some more looking in my files - thanks for sharing this information and hope what I have may help you a little.
