The newspaper item was in the Lexington, KY Observer and Reporter 5/22/1834. Quote: UNFORTUNATE OCCURENCE.--On Satur- day night last, between the hours of 11 and 12 o'clock, Mrs Williamson killed her hus- band, Richard Williamson, by shooting him with a musket, loaded with shot, the contents of which passed into his heart. She was ar- rested the next day, and tried before the May- or, as a Court of Inquiry, and the evidence being that she was pursued by her husband with a knife, and had reasonable ground of apprehension for her life, she was discharged.
