Hello - I have received a death cert for an great uncle who was a Physician in Boyd Co. until 1943 and then retired to his former home in Lawrence Co, OH. The death cert has him as a patient at Eastern State Hospital in Lexington for approx. 2 years prior to his death in 1953. According to the website for Eastern State Hospital, this is a psychiatric facility. Am I correct that this has always been a psychiatric facility? I am trying to learn more about my great uncle's condition in his later life that would have necessitated his admission and prolonged stay at this hospital. Thanks so much for the assistance.
