Good Morning, Is there anyone familiar with famous horse farms located in Covington? In particular, one called the BRADLEY farm? My grandfather lived near to it and I'm trying to narrow down the location....................... Thanks much, Shannon
Do any of you Fayette Co. researchers recognize these people? I can't actually vouch for the authenticity of this lineage -- additions, corrections, and comments would be welcomed. I am especially interested in the LOGAN connection. Good Morning, Was wondering if anyone has the book titled Kentuckians in Ohio? I am researching O'NEAL/GORMLEY. My grandfather, James W. O'NEAL, was born in Lexington in 1896. I ordered the soundex census for 1900, but he is nowhere to be found! I have been told that my grandmother, Beatrice (Gormley) O'NEAL used to run a boarding house in Cinncinnati, Ohio across from the Olympia Theater. They must have moved to Ohio when my grandfather was still very little. He also had a brother by the name of Charles O'NEAL. I think he was older. This side of my family has been a real stumbling block for me. I wrote to KY. requesting a birth record, not knowing that records weren't kept that far back. (You live & learn). So, If anyone has the book, I would really appreciate if you could check to see if these names are listed. TIA Shannon Margate, FL.

Is Col. Sandy Gorham on this list
Hi, Here's what I have. Thomas Gorham and Margaret Cotton, of Fairfax, VA, had numerous children, most born in Loudon Co., VA. One of their daughters, Frances "Frankie" Gorham, married George Bournaugh. I have a transcribed copy of part of his will from Will Book D, p. 134 Bourbon Co., KY., written Nov. 3, 1790, proved Dec. 1810. What I have is actually three pages of articles transcribed from, "The Kentuckian-Citizen, Paris, KY." Courtesy of Margaret and Al Spiry. It even mentions the second marriage of George Burnoe (s/o Thomas and Elizabeth) on 3-1-1860 to Hannah Craig at Covington, KY. It also mentions all the different ways they spelled their name. Let me know if any of this is new to you and I'll send you transcribed copies of the papers. The article goes so far as to mention Lewis Burnau, b. 2-22-1861, Preble Co., OH, moved 6-10-1926 to Memphis, married Ellen (Davis) Melshmer, b. 3-12-1885, in Indianapolis, and they had Raymond Burnau, b. 8-10-1896, MS, who married 2nd Quinn (Parks) White, and they had Helen Ann Burnau, b. 7-8-1942 at Baptist Hosp., Memphis TN. That was the condensed version. The line I'm trying to prove is that John Gorham, oldest brother of Frankie Gorham Burnaugh, removed to NC, and was one of the settlers that came to Kentucky and helped establish Fayette Co. with Daniel Boone. John had, among other children, twins boys, John and George, and another son William. (George's son was a representative of KY, and one of the articles tells that a powder horn that belonged to George's father John, hangs in the courthouse, with George's name and date of birth on it, next to a portrait of Daniel Boone.) We think William may be the father of my Sanford Gorham from his first marriage to a Gunn. Sanford was born in 1812 in KY. Married a Mahulda "Hulda" Freeman, b. 1815 TN, married in the mid 1830's. Anyway, I'd be glad to transcribe some of these articles for you or anyone else if you think it contains some information that you haven't come across yet. I have to give credit to the wonderful people who shared this info with me and went out of their way to help me in my search. The information was provided by Al and Margaret Cotton Spiry. Genealogist's, Columnists and probably the most knowledgeable people on this line of Gorham's that I have come across. Thank you for responding. I was beginning to wonder if anyone had seen my post or ever even heard of the name Gorham. (Which, by the way, I now have over 25 different spellings of the name.) Hi there. Is Col. Sandy Gorham on this list. I don't belong to her list in, was it, the South Central, or Western Central Kentucky? Anyone know? I'm sure you would find her by writing to: WEST-CENTRAL-KY-admin@rootsweb.com or SOUTH-CENTRAL-KY-admin@rootsweb.com or just address the list, but you'd have to subscribe first. Sandi, if you are reading this, I'm sorry my memory isn't better! *g* Christen
This is a great find for me. These McCALLAs appear to be from my Bucks Co, PA McCALLAs. Does anyone know more about this early Lexington family??? Is the citation below the entire article (or an excerpt) from this book? Hello Can anyone do a look-up on a birth record of William Fuller? On his military records it states that he was born in Fayette Co. between the years of 1840 and 1845.I am having a lot of difficulty researching this part of my family.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Monica
I think it may not be that uncommon. My g-g-grandmother was said to have been a Cherokee Indian. I talked to a cousin who actually met my g-g-grandmother when she (my cousin) was a child. My g-grandmother's name was Frances "Fannie" Bellwood. In 1900, she is 16 years old and living with George and Ella Garrett. I do know that one of the Garrett children was Fannie's half-brother. When she married my g-grandfather in 1904, her last name was Eldridge. Go figure . . . ----- Original Message ----- From: lois conn <lavonne@centurytel.net> To: <KYFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2000 11:11 AM Subject: [KYFAYETT] Hill family in Ky > Marion, > I will try again. Marion, I will try again. My name is Lois Conn. I do not know why it came out like it did before. Yes, there is indian blood in the family. James Hill married Mary Cope. Mary Cope's parents were John Cope and Straight Path Na Wish-R-Bai of Cherokee nation. This was not mention in my family but I found it on a disk at the Family History Center of the Mormon Church. I have not prove this yet but keep trying to prove it. It is interesting that your mother said you had indian blood in you and I almost think that there is a connection somewhere. Lois
Doug, Are you also related to James QUAINTANCE who md in Mason Co, 26 Dec 1808, Sarah LOGAN? She was b 24 Jun 1783 & d 28 Aug 1832 in Fleming Co., KY; I believe he remarried several times. I am originally from Urbana, OH, where Meig's forces gathered in a hugh encampment to prepare for the march up to the Thames. Most of the then village was from Mason Co. and all of the able bodied men plus some who were well past their prime, including Simon Kenton, joined in the march and conflict. The trail was pretty much along the present Rt #68. Ellen
Thanks, Lois. I THINK I get it! Marion
