    3. Thanks. I really appreciate that. I travel in my work and it's difficult to get to a library. I would be interested in any Baker marriages during that time period, especially 1790-1795. 1. [KYFAYETT] Clement Estes - William Pritchart marriage 1817
    2. Hello to all, Just joined the board as my gggrandfather William Pritchart - we spell it with tt but always find it with 1, lived in Fayette County from about 1790s to 1840. A family pedigree prepared in the 1940s states he married a "Polly Adams." The only Adams family I found in Fayette was the decendents of Absalom Adams which I suspected may be connected. Just this week I found online an entry in the marriage records of Fayette County Kentucky a William Pritchart married June 9, 1817, Clement Estes. Now all the Clement Estes in Fayette were male and I have reason to believe this should have read Mrs. Clement Estes AKA Sally Catherine Adams, possibly widow of Clement Estes and child of Absalom Adams. Does anyone have access to the original entrees for marriages that can check on this entree. I have been searching a long time and everything seems to fit together. Look forward to any responses on William Pritchart. Would appreciate anyone who could check on the actual entree for this marriage June 9, 1817 to actually if is said Mrs. Clemente Estes or Catherine Estes aka Sarah Catherine Adams. I am planning a trip to the Lexington Library soon to do research - this is about a 6 hour trip but I am sure will be worthwhile. 3. Thanks. I've looked through that book. According to Ancestry's Redbook, Fayette Co. marriage records go back to 1785, but the FHC does not appear to have microfilmed the marriages between 1785 & 1795. Ancestry.com also just has them back to 1795. I suspect that they're to be found somewhere. Jim James R. I f there aren't too many for those 10 years, perhaps I can copy them to be able to do look ups. As far as the newspapers go, some of the issues are missing due to damage and one of the two Lexington newspapers didn't publish during the Civil War. Diane

    3. There are several books in print that have extracted items from the early Fayette newspapers. I'm not sure how far back they go, but I think it would depend on which issues of the paper are available. Then, the Lexington Public Library will photocopy the entries for you for a nominal fee. The books that have the newspaper extracts in them are fairly easy to find. Some of them are marriages only, some deaths only, but some have more general items as well. One of them is The Kentucky Gazette 1787-1890 by Karen Mauer Green. She has also written one for a later period. I have found these at our local public library and at our regional LDS Family History Center. Good luck, Caroline -- >From the desk of Caroline House http://house.simplenet.com/mom

    3. James, According to Ancestry's Redbook, Fayette Co. marriage records go back to 1785, but the FHC does not appear to have microfilmed the marriages between 1785 & 1795. Before 1780, Fayette Co. was a part of Virginia. The Kentucky Room at the Lexington Public Library http://www.lpl.lib.ky.us/reference/kyroom.html indicates they have newspapers dating back to 1787 on microfilm, but does not state if they interlibrary loan that microfilm, as several archives such as Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska will. My ancestor, James Rose of Fayette Co. falls in your time frame as well. Please let me know if you find a way to access those early records. Terri Walker -

    1. [KYFAYETT] Wainscott, Elrod, Baker, Roberts, Stringfellow
    2. Hi Everyone-- Since several people have joined this list over recent months, I want to mention again 2 books which I have written about the Wainscott (Winscot), Elrod, Baker, Stringfellow and other families who lived in the 1700s and 1800s in the Yadkin River area of NC and moved into Kentucky, settling in Madison, Gallatin and Owen Counties. Several moved on into Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Texas and Illinois. "The Wainscott Family" is the main book. It starts with Richard Wainscott, the original immigrant from England to America. He was born in 1711 and arrived in Maryland in 1728. He soon moved to Virginia, then to North Carolina. I think he is the ancestor of everyone named Winscot or Wainscott whose family originated in Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky or Missouri. "The Wainscott Family" includes every descendant of Richard that I have been able to identify. Many other Wainscott researchers sent me hundreds and hundreds of names, dates, places and biographical information on their branches of this large family. All info I have received on any Wainscott or Winscot is in the book. The book has about 275 pages and costs $23. "Wainscott Cousins" is a companion book. It includes information on 6 of the families which most often intermarried with Wainscotts. Those families were Baker, Elrod, Roberts, Stringfellow, Razor, & McMains. "Wainscott Cousins" has about 210 pages and costs $17. Each book is fully indexed (every-name index), is printed on 8.5 inch by 11 inch paper, and is softbound (with binding comb so that the book lies flat when open). Shipping is $4.00 for one book or $5.50 for both books. If you are interested in purchasing one or both books, please write to me and I will give you the mailing address for your order. 1. [KYFAYETT] Carpenter--Dunlap, KY, 1851
    2. Keith Morris
    3. I would very much like to locate the actual cemetery or records of the cemetery mentioned in the following 1851 Lexington, KY newspaper announcement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. To Quote: "Funeral. You and family are invited to attend the Funeral of Mr. Wm. H. CARPENTER, from the residence of his aunt, Mrs. DUNLAP, to the Family Burying Ground, on the Versailles Turnpike, this evening at 4 o'clock. The members of the Lyon Fire Company are requested to meet at half past 3 o'clock to attend the Funeral. Monday Morning, May 26, 1851." By way of explanation, William H. CARPENTER was killed in downtown Lexington, KY. He was orphaned at an early age, and partly raised by his uncle, George W. DUNLAP, Esq., of Louisville. He was survived by an older sister and brother: Eve Ann CARPENTER and George D. CARPENTER, who moved to IL in about 1848. I'm assuming that the FAMILY BURYING GROUND would either refer to a CARPENTER and/or DUNLAP cemetery plot. Thanks...Keith Morris in Suffolk, VA kmorris@hroads.net

Andrew married NANCY FERRIS, possible in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. Nancy's parents--EBENEZER FERRIS and GETTY ANN EDMONDS moved from Hamilton County, Ohio to Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky in the very early 1800's. Ebenezer has been said to have been killed, possibly by Indians, in Lexington, Kentucky. Andrew and Nancy HAMMEL have been found in Madisonville, Hamilton County, Ohio. Andrew and Nancy brought their families to Madison, Jefferson County, IN by 1830. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated ! I will share any information that I have on these families. 1. [KYFAYETT] Introduction
    2. Mike & Kris Dunlap
    3. Hello, I recently discovered this list and felt that it may assist me in my genealogical adventure. I believe my GGGG Grandfather, William Dunlap b.10Aug1744 d.5March1816 married his Wife, Rebecca Robertson b.23Aug1751 d.7Nov.1849 in Fayette County Ky.. From what I have gathered so far, he possibly farmed in the area and had 9 children: James, Jane, William (my line)b.8Feb1779, Rebecca, George, Alexander, John Robertson and Martha. I have had no luck in tracing back any further, however I have ordered William's military records as he was to have been a Major in the Rev. War. Does anyone know if a will would list who his parents were? If anyone can assist me or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much. I live near Peoria, ILL. so a trip to Fayette Co. would not be that far to go. If anyone needs to contact me off list I can be reached at k9sgt@dpc.net. Thanks in advance and I have enjoyed the list. Mike Dunlap
