I have recently found my grandparents in the 1910 census. My mother's sister was Beatrice Hill, 7 years old. Her half sister was Anna Blythe, also 7. Then there was a Howard 12, and a Bill Blythe 10. These Blythe children at some time all died with TB and perhaps even their parents, but I don't know how old they lived to be. Their mother was Martha Asbury Blythe Hill, (my grandmother) who had been married to Squire Hill (my grandfather) for 1 year in the 1910 census, one year before my mother was born, Margaret Hill. Any info on anyone would be so helpful. Thanks again. 1. [KYFAYETT] As a new list member, would like to introduce myself
    2. Hello Fayette County Listers, I am new to the list and Christine, your listkeeper suggested I introduce myself. My name is Mary Winn Anderson; I live in Geneva, Florida on the St. Johns River. This is about 30 minutes north of Orlando. Among other names I am researching is my maiden name: Carter. My 3rd great grandfather, Job Carter, II was in Fayette Co as stated below in an excerpt from one of my father's letters. In looking through your archives I noticed the name Swearingen. This is also a family name. Other names I am researching that may have been in the area are Rutherford, Douglass, Mark. Following is an excerpt from my father's letter: Job Carter, Jr. appears in the records of Fayette County, Kentucky, as the owner and resident of Walnut Hill, a farm on the Richmond Pike about five miles south of Lexington, the county seat of Fayette County. He was a member of Walnut (_____?) Presbyterian Church, and apparently donated the land for the church, and is buried in the churchyard. However, when I went there to locate his grave in 1924 or '25 I found the sandstone grave stones so weatherbeaten I could not decipher the names or dates, but I found his will recorded in Will Book B of the Fayette County records, leaving his brass kettle, several slaves (or, as he called them "servants") and his grind stone, among other treasured items to various children. Job Carter's children were: Isaac Newton Carter, b. bet. 1804 and 1806 (my 2nd gr grandfather) Thomas Carter Anna Carter Mary Carter Ellen Carter Sarah Carter I look forward to learning something about my family and also to learning about yours. Regards, Mary Winn Anderson

However I have been informed by another on the list that there was a Jacob Cassell involved in a shooting in 1851 in Lexington I cannot find this Jacob in my line but I am interested in knowing who he was He apparently shot Wm Carpenter on Main Street in a fight. 3. Hello! I have just received info that my grandmother Martha Asbury Hill, wife of Squire Hill, had previously been married to a Blythe, prior to the 1910 census. Her children were Howard Blythe,12, Bill Blythe, 10, and Anna Blyth, 7. I believe all of these children died from TB in the next 10 or so years, possibly the Mother too (m grandmother). My mother was Margaret Hill, and her father( Squire Hill, my grandfather, and Martha's new husband) had a daughter, Beatrice 7, (my Aunt Bea, who married an Ed White) in the 1910 census. He had no legs when I met him as a little girl in Lexington, and they had no children. Does this mean anything to anyone? Especially in the Blythe family from Lexington Kentucky? I do not know who the father of the Blythe children were, unless the Howard or Bill is a clue. Perhaps he had died earlier also of TB. Martha had only been marred to my grandfather for 1 year at the 1910 census. They lived on Cuthide street back then. Perhaps this Blythe man could be a great Uncle to someone out there? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Marion Cauble

    3. Hello all! My great-grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Montgomery, was born in Fayette CO, KY in 1823. His father was Robert Montgomery who signed for his marriage in 1843, but I don't know which Robert he was. Lorenzo Dow also had a brother Joseph who married the sister of Lorenzo Dow's wife. The two ladies were my great-grandmother Mary Guynn and Adaline Guynn. These ladies were the daughters of Gabriel Guynn and Mary Hoglin of Woodford CO. All of these families moved to Scott CO, IN in the 1840s and died there. I would be everlastingly grateful for any clue about which Robert Montgomery is my ancestor. I have the family from Robert on down on my website on the page 'My Montgomerys' at: http://www.acun.com/dentons I was also quite thrilled recently to receive a picture of Mary Guynn Montgomery and it is on the page 'Early Photos of my Scott CO, IN Montgomerys.' 1. [KYFAYETT] CASSELL FAMILY
    2. I've been "lurking" in this Fayette Co., KY area, but since the name Cassell has come up, let me share something. Julius CASSELL emigrated from Kriegsheim, Pfalzburg, Bavaria and was one of the first settlers of Germantown, PA in 1683. His son, Johannes, b. ca. 1639 married a Mary CASELL (cousin?) 20 DEC 1686, and he died 17APR1691, in Germantown, PA. Their daughter Elizabeth CASSELL md/ Johannes KUSTER and both died in Germantown. They are my ancestors. I am searching in Fayette County KY for a possible link to my great-grandfather Charles C. MC DONALD. I have information that a Charles Costello McDONALD lived in Fayette Co., and died there 2APR1821. He was married to Hannah CAMPBELL. They had a son Charles, Jr., but I have no proof that he is my great-grandfather. Can anyone help with this? Thanks, Phyllis in Arizona

    2. Keith Morris
    3. To Kathy, Annabelle, and other interested researchers... >From the book, History of Fayette County, KY, edited by Perrin, pp. 844-5: "A.G. Karsner, farmer, P.O. Lexington, is the son of Maj. Jonathan Karsner and Jennetta (Creath) Karsner, and grandson of the Rev. Jacob Creath, one of the pioneer ministers of the "Blue Grass Region," who came to Fayette County in 1802. Jonathan Karsner was born on the Versailles pike, this county, on March 13, 1794, son of Casper Karsner, a native of Penn and of German descent. Jennetta was born in Fairfax County, VA, January 1, 1800, daughter of the Rev. Jacob Creath, a native of Nova Scotia, who was a son of William Creath, a native of Ireland......Casper Karsner emigrated to Kentucky about 1780, locating and entering land in this county; his wife was Eva [Eveleas or Eve] Lail, a native of Penn. She, with her brother John, was taken prisoner at the age of fourteen, at Riddles' Mills [Ruddles or Ruddell's], during the Revolution, and taken to Canada where they were exchanged. To them were born, John, George, Johathan and Margaret. After the death of Casper, she married William Dunlap, and by him had seven children, William, George, Robert, Daniel, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Catharine......Albert G. remained with his father until of age. In October, 1855, he married Frances A. Cassell, who was born in this county, May 20, 1831, daughter of Leonard and Ann (White) Cassell, of Jessamine County, Ky." 2. Keith Morris
    3. Hello Annabelle, I just sent a private e-mail to Kathy, and then I saw your posting...thought I better resend to you. Hope some of this is of help to you. Keith Morris Hi Kathy, How ironic that the Cassell and Carpenter/Morris families meet again some 150 years later...Just kidding. I was in Lexington in 1998, and copied a page from The Kentucky Statesman, Saturday, May 31, 1851, and further details from the same paper dated May 28, 1851, which describes how Jacob Cassell and Wm. H. Carpenter got into a fight over practically nothing. Wm grabbed Jacob's lapel pin and was too slow to return it. A fist fight developed, guns were drawn, a bystander tried to break up the fight and was shot through his wrist, Jacob and Wm pounded each other with their guns, and finally, Jacob shot Wm who died on the spot (on Main Street). I was more interested in the family names given since this was a genealogical expedition on my part to tie the Dunlap and Carpenter families together. No doubt the name quoted in the newspaper was Jacob Cassell. William Carpenter had returned from the War in Mexico just a couple of years before his "scuffle" with Jacob. His obit says that he had been orphaned at a young age, and was partly raised by his Uncle, Geo. W. Dunlap, Esq., of Louisville. My research is guided toward finding the parents of my gg grandmother, Eve Ann Carpenter. I believe that her mother was Esther (or Hannah) Dunlap...and so you may see the saga beginning to expand. If your family descended from Casper and Eveleas Lail remained in contact her second family (as cousins), I would very much like to hear more about this from you. I have very little faith in the Lagle/Lail book, but until I gather sufficient proof, I am reluctant to state categorically that it is full of errors. You mentioned Albert G. and Frances...yes, I'm more than certain that these were the people I was referring to in my on-line posting earlier this evening. My back is hurting too much right now to even read today's newspaper, so I think I was doing pretty good to recall a wedding between "a Karsner and a Cassell". If the lady who first asked about the Cassell name ever replies to me, I will certainly forward on your reply to me (unless you object beforehand). I'll go ahead and send this now, and then get out a book that will answer your questions about Albert's parents. Hopefully, within an hour, I'll have the answer for you. Sincerely, Keith Morris...in Suffolk, VA kmorris@hroads.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Hallkathyw@aol.com To: kmorris@hroads.net Sent: Wednesday, April 19, 2000 9:28 PM Subject: Cassell I am a descendent of Jacob Cassell but he died in 1818.
