James Madison Kidd married Margaret J. Bell August 14, 1844, Fayette County, KY. They had a son, James, born June of 1850, and James Madison Kidd died April 23, 1851. Margaret J. Bell Kidd married John Hammond, born 1810, KY, on November 11, 1857, Fayette County, KY. We believe the older Bell woman living in the household with John Lewis, is most likely the mother of my Margaret J. Bell. This is the little we are trying to work with. Thank you for all your help. County Clerk has marriage records from 1795, probate and land records from 1794 while Clerk of the Circuit Court has Divorce and Civil Court Records......Kentucky began recording birth records January 1, 1911. The City of Lexington has birth records from 1906 to 1911 and death records from 1898 to 1911.....Write to whichever office...Lexington, KY 40507. For State Records write Vital Records, 275 E Main St., Frankfort, KY 40621. The Kentucky Historical Society has some county birth and death records from 1851 in their library. I'm just beginning my research in Lexington and looking for information on my ggrandfather's parents. I don't know their names but his was William David DeMasters (or Demastus) sometimes listed as David William DeMasters. He stated in census and other records that he was born December 17, 1863, in Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky. Can anyone tell me if birth records exist for this early? Probably not, that would be to easy wouldn't it? LOL How about marriage records? While I can't offer any help in Kentucky, I do have access to marriages in Missouri from 1770 to 1839 if anyone is interested. Thanks for any advice or guidance you can give me!
