My second introductory search is for any information on Robert DONALDSON who married Sarah DONALDSON 1797,Clark Co. Ky. Sarah was d/o Patrick DONALDSON and Lucy PETIT who appear to be from PA. Sarah was said to be related to Robert. Is Robert DONALDSON from a PA. family also? Since Lucy Petit Donaldson married second John Fleming and said to live the remainder of lives on the DONALDSON farm in Fayette Co., does anyone have anything further on this family? The ROBERT & SARAH DONALDSON above moved early to Missouri where he died by 1824. Their son JOHN FLEMING DONALDSON is my(husband's ) direct line. Thanks for any data, Marion Donaldson
I have two seperate lines with Fayette connections, one is below. SCOTT, William whose wife was Margaret. William SCOTT was b. March 25,1765 York Co. Pa. He is said to have moved to Va. at a very early age, which would appear to be with his parents, then to Fayette Co. Ky. in 1791 where he lived until ca1812. At that time this family moved to Trigg Co. Ky. where William died Dec.26,1857 His five daughters: Mary married Benjamin BIBB of Fayette Co. Jane married John TINSLEY of Fayette Co. Martha married John ROGERS of Fayette Co Elizabeth married James TINSLEY of Fayette Co Margaret married Joseph C. CARR of Fayette Co. If someone has sorted out the early Scotts of the area, would appreciate anything.. If someone knows Margaret's ancestry, would appreciate. If someone knows the area of Va. where Scotts,Carrs,Bibbs and Rogers lived, would appreciate. Marion in Texas
On a death certificate from Fayette County for August H. MEYERS [21 May 1866 - 28 Oct 1913] it indicates his occupation as "delinquent" and his business as "back tax collector". Does anyone know how I might find out more about this? His occupation in the 1911 City Directory was listed as "restr" and I believe in another was listed as "horse blankets". The birth certificate of his son lists his occupation as "harnass maker". Any help would be appreciated. Jeannie Kalivoda

Hi This is my first time on this list. I am seeking info on Henry McDonald, wife Martha, who with his widowed mother (Sarah Hodge) and his siblings came to Fayette Co. KY to claim land they had inherited from John and Angus McDonald. QUESTION: Who were John and Angus? Henry helped lay out Lexington, he is mentioned several times in the histories. He died and is buried in an unmarked grave in Lexington. I would be glad to exchange info with anyone researching this family. Thanks Shirley
Hi Lois. Thank you very much for sending that to me. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm looking forward to getting it. I hope it gets here soon! Marion
Marion Just a note to let you know I mailed the census to you on Sunday, May 9, 2000. It is on 2 sheets of paper and you have to match them together. I hope you can make it out. On page C-1 of the May 9, 2000 Louisville Courier-Journal there was an article about Carridder Jones, a Black playwright who lives in Jeffersonville, Indiana near Louisville, and has been gathering information about numerous hamlets founded by freed Blacks after the Civil War. Her area of concentration has been the counties surrounding Lexington: Fayette, Scott, Bourbon, Clark, Madison, Jessamine, and Woodford Counties. She has located some 28 such places. Some descendants of these families still live there. She hopes to look at the area around Louisville next. The article had a map with the following locations: Scott: Watkinsville, Pea Ridge, New Zion, Zion Hill Bourbon: Centerville, Brentsville, Clintonville Madison: Peytontown Clark: Hootentown Jessamine: Dixontown, Hall, Keene (?) Woodford: Davistown, Russelltown, Firmatown, Hutertown, Fayette: Maddoxtown, Willa Lane, Uttingertown, Columbustown, Pricetown, Centerville, Coletown, Jonestown, Little Georgetown, Fort Spring, Bracktown, Frogtown, Jimtown Bill Davis wmadavis@kih.net **************************************************************** * * * Fax (978)334-7850 * P.O. HELLO, I am researching the Thomas (br. 1836) and Catherine Hughes Cook family, I have been told that Thomas was the son of William and Nancy Haley Cook of Green County, Ky. Thomas was married 3 times. There were 12 or more children. In his last marriage to Catherine Hughes there were four daughters, 1. Malinda 2. Margaret 3. Jenny (changed to Jean) 4. Talitha. The children were put in the Odd Fellows home after both parents died. My Grandmother Malinda Ellen was too old to be put there so she kept house for some people. She was 14 years old. At the age of 16 she married Charles Estes of Ky. He was 21, he had gone into Cincinnati to get a "respectable" job so she would marry him, he became a Street Car Conductor. I would like to find a "Cook" connection and find out what happened to Thomas and Catherine. The old post cards that my grandfather Estes would send her love notes to while they were courting--were addressed to "Sadieville, Ky." Thanks Peggy
Thanks Lois. I really don't know anything, but I don't think they were in a different county. I can't figure where they could have been, unless the census failed to count them that time. But thanks for sending me the copy. Mrs. Marion Cauble 3149 Poplar Tent Rd. Concord, N.C. 28027 I appreciate your help . Marion

Is there anyone who might have the 1920, etc. census of Lexington, Ky. on the family of Squire and Martha Hill, my grandparents? Many of that family died with TB except for my mother and one sister. I would like to find out when they died from this. Thanks for any help. Marion
