    1. [KYFAYETT] Roll Call-WILLIAMS
    2. Tootsie Peck
    3. Hi All, Am looking for a connection to my WILLIAMS line. I do not have very much information: My GG Grandfather was born in Wales and came to this country prior to the Civil War. I only have his last name which was WILLIAMS. He married ?, who was from VA. They had five children all born in the Lexington area, I think. The oldest was Virginia (Jenny) WILLIAMS b. 10/13/1850; she was my Great Grandmother. The other children were males: "Will" and Tom were the two oldest sons, I believe. The fourth son died as a baby. This WILLIAMS (one from Wales) was supposed to have been in the Union Army and died very early in the War. His wife died shortly thereafter, and the children were put under guardianship, I think. They were separated and the baby died in an orphanage fire. The story goes downhill from there. According to my Great Aunt, he was supposed to have had some connection with coal mines, in the capacity of ownership, somewhere in this area of KY. Sorry for the length of this posting, but I don't know, at this point, how else to do it. Any help about where to go in KY to find info will be appreciated more than any of you could imagine---on second thought, I'm sure that you do understand. Thanks bunches, Tootsie speck836@earthlink.net

    3. Leah, You may want to contact Ward Lee Ward, who posts on the KYHARRIS-L@rootswebs.com list (to subscribe do the KYHARRIS-L-request@rootsweb.com )...Ward Lee Ward's e addy is Lward1@kscable.com He just recently posted a lineage chart of a Duckworth family that had some Vallandingham individuals in it. One was "Tom" (Thomas) Vallandingham, b. July 03, 1962, in Cynthiana, Harrison Co.,KY. So you might want to check out the Harrison County list at the list address above as well for your Vanlandingham line. It is likely they are the same family with varient spelling. Good luck, Bmar in Savannah, GA. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leah Smith" <leahsmith712@hotmail.com> To: <KYFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 16, 2000 12:18 PM Subject: [KYFAYETT] Re: New to list > Hi listers, > I'm researching VANLANDINGHAM any information would be greatly > appreciated. > Thanks, > Leah > > ANOTHER TIME ANOTHER PLACE > VANLANDINGHAM, GALBAUGH, KENDRICK website > http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/s/m/i/Leah-Smith/ > CLINKINBEARD, PRATT, SLATER, STYLES, STEBBINS website > http://www.genealogy.com/users/s/m/i/Leah-Smith-KY/ > > > > > ________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com > > > ==== KYFAYETT Mailing List ==== > Welcome to the KYFAYETT mailing list! 3. I'm a newcomer to this list and wanted to put a plea out for descendants of Frank and Polly SPENCER of Ft Springs area. I am descended from Ed and Sally COWGILL WALTZ. Frank was a cousin to Sally and worked in the Post Office there in Ft. Springs with Ed. I have some letters that Ed and Sally wrote to each other and it mentions Frank and several other family members of that area. I also have a picture album and believe some of these cousins are in there. I need help identifying some and there is no one left in my family who can help. My surnames I am researching are WALLER, COWGILL, WALTZ, SMEDLEY, LINGENFELTER, UHLS, HARGIS, MITCHELL. Thanks, Helen

    3. Okay, I understand ADR,BOO, LOG and such, are abbreviations for various counties (is there a key as to what counties these are?)...what exactly do the numbers mean?..6,58,etc....I am a newbie at this and this is a bit confusing to me. For example: John F. WOO 395...would stand for John F. Carter in Woo..County...is that Woodward or Woods or what?...and the number would mean what? Sorry to be so slow on the uptake on this. I appreciate your taking the time to explain so I can learn. Barb.
