    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] Rev. Adam Rankin
    2. William A. Davis
    3. This is what I can recall about Rankin: Rev. Adam Rankin was a controversial Presbyterian minister. He was a native of Pennsylvania. There are descriptions of him and his controversies in one or two Presbyterian histories. His house in Lexington is preserved as the oldest in Lexington. It was moved to avoid destruction and has a Kentucky Historical Marker next to it. Some pamphlets were published in regard to Rankin's various religious trials and controversies. He was the owner of a young slave named Lewis Hayden, who later escaped and became a leader of the anti-slavery black community in Boston, Massachusetts. He told a little of Rankin in a book, KEY TO UNCLE TOM'S CABIN, which contained Hayden's account of his slavery experience. Rankin had sold his slaves and may have been on his way to visit the Holy Land when he died in Philadelphia, in 1827, I think. His wife moved with a son to Tennessee and died there. There is genealogy data about Rankin and many other Rankins in the records of Flossie Cloyd, an unfinished genealogy on microfilm at the Tennessee State Library. 1. [KYFAYETT] Rev. Adam Rankin
    2. Rev. Adam Rankin was one of the first preachers in both Fayette and Woodford Counties. He founded a number of churches. I am seeking information on this man and his family. Is this the same Rev. Adam Rankin who was married to Martha McPheeters? His family was born in Fayette County and I know Rev. Adam Rankin split his time between Fayette and Woodford. Any information on him would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, MichaelAnne Guido

    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] Francis Bourn(e)
    2. The ancestor I have that moved to Jessamine County in 1803 was Christopher Webster. I believe his mother or grandmother may have been a member of the Christopher family of Orange County, VA. From the indications I have the name Christopher was not a common first name on the Webster line. The ancestor the original posting asked about was Frances Christopher. She was a member of the Christopher family in Virginia. I am trying to make a connection to a female Christopher that may have married a Webster. All that is known of Christopher Webster is that he was born in Orange County, VA ca. 1774. He married a woman named Hannah and they moved first to Fayette County and then to Jessamine County. They had several children. Christopher Webster served two tours of duty in the War of 1812 and died in 1813 shortly after his second tour of duty ended. He is the progenitor of most of the Websters in Jessamine County, KY at that time. Thanks. MichaelAnne

    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] Francis Bourn(e)
    2. Hi, I am very interested in the two women you can't find in your posting. There was a Christopher family in Orange County, VA which is next to Spotsylvania recorded in the deeds from 1746-1780. I am interested in this family because I am a descendant of Christopher Webster who first came to Fayette County (he is on the 1800 tax rolls and reconstructed census) and then purchased property in Jessamine County, KY in 1803. He was in both Woodford and Jessamine Counties and served two tours of duty in the War of 1812. There may be a connection here. I also have interest in the Hayden (Haydon) family of Woodford County, KY as a Gershom Lee, Jr. married Sally Hayden on Aug. 26, 1794 in Woodford County, KY. At that time Woodford County stretched all the way to the Ohio River and they eventually lived in Gallatin County a few years later due to County formation. There is probably information on your Hayden in the records of Woodford County. Sincerely, MichaelAnne Guido

    1. [KYFAYETT] Fayette Co. Marriage Look Up
    2. Terri Walker
    3. Could anyone please do a marriage record look up for a Sinclair marriage to a woman first name - Allie? The Kentucky Death Index shows Allie Sinclair 06 May 1935 Fayette County 87 Years old This person is about the right age, and in the right place to be Alley Rose, who was born 1849 in neighboring Woodford Co. Her marriage would probably have been around 1870. The Rose family lived in Woodford, Fayette and Jessamine Counties circa 1800-1900. I have already checked Woodford marriage records, without success. If this Allie does not appear in the Fayette marriage records, then I probably should send off for this death certificate. Thank you for your help. Terri Walker

    3. Donna, I can't give you a definite answer but I was told at Richmond that they had a cemetery for patients that died and had no one claim the body. They were unmarked graves but on the grounds. They also used paupers burial in the city cemetery. These things might be common to all mental institutions. Check it out. Now, does anyone happen to know whether there is a cemetery on the grounds of the institution? (Located in Lexington) Or a particular cemetery that the institution may have used in the mid- to - late 1800's? Thanks again!!! Which ones do you have on him? Does the year and place of birth jive with the possible James Kidd info from the 1850 census? Still thinking about our connection. If you do connection to this KIDD family, I just got some pictures from a woman that descends from Jame Madison Kidd's brother, William Connor Kidd. They begin with Philiip Connor Kidd, son of Wm Connor Kidd. They are pretty neat. Just thought I would let you know I am still thinking about you.
