    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] 1820 census index BURNS and TURNER
    2. XineGirl
    3. Hi again Shirl The 1820 census didn't get the names of children, unfortunately. It wasn't until 1850 that all those wonderful details were recorded...but the 1820 census does list the number of folks in each age group by gender and by status of their freedom. Here is the address to a web page I just found that summarized what is in each census: http://wee-monster.home.att.net/census.html As to how to get a copy, there are a bunch of ways, depending on where you are and what you want to pay...If you're lucky enough to be reasonably close to a National Archives regional building, make friends with the building and visit it often...I used to be about 10 miles from the one in Chicago, but I've moved to Lexington...closer to the county records, at least! Anyway, you can probably get the census on microfilm through your local LDS Family History Center (I'm not 100% sure, never had to do it, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't!). There are folks in magazines like Everton's Genealogical Helper who either will get you the copy for a small fee, or will sell you cds containing digital images of the census...which is nice if you have lots of folks in one area, but kinda spendy if you just need one person one time. Check you library, check any genealogy societies in your area...lots of possibilities. There is also a project under way, the US GenWeb Archives Census Image at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/cen_ke.htm#KY But there are no Fayette County records up...any volunteers out there? If Mr. Burns/Bevins had children who were old enough in 1820 to be independent, be sure to look over the index for any of their names--he might have been listed with them as the head of household. Hope this helps, and I hope that anyone who has any other suggestions will share them! Thanks, and good luck, Christine unicorn wrote: > > Christine, > As a matter of fact, the name Burns and the name Bevins have both been used in the family AND in the Delaware Cnty IN history books. 3. I have tThe Rohrer Families by Wickliffe B. Neal and in this book are pages of descendants of Hans Michael Rohrer of PA many of whom lived in Fayette Co around Lexington and more in Jessamine County. That family went very early into KY so when you are talking about Rohrer in that one area there are a lot of names to consider. I would be happy to look something up. Not one person in this book is related to me. ...nice book though. Pamela

    1. [KYFAYETT] REED, MCFADDEN
    2. Bonnie Wilson
    3. Is there anyone who could do a look up for me on a marriage between William B. REED and Sallie A. MCFADDEN? It would have been sometime between 1835 and 1845. Sorry I cannot pinpoint any nearer. Also if anyone could find them on a 1840 census. They had a child born in Fayette County in 1846 and it appears to have been Sallie's birthplace so here's where I'm starting. Thanks ahead for any information you can give me. Bonnie

    2. Hal Irving
    3. Pam, Hi, do you have a Thomas F. Irving marrying a Letitia Long of Lexington, Fayette Co., KY 2 July 1868? I would be most interested in any data whatsoever on Thomas F Irving as to birth place in Scotland, parents etc......would also be interested in verifying that David Long was Father of Letitia although he is listed as dying in 1849 probably in IN......would be priceless to finally know who Letitia's Mother was.......They were married according to family stories at Christ Church, Lexington......she may have been living with relatives in 1868.....she born 1840..... Thanks for the effort....Best Regards, Hal, from sunny Northern California! "Grandma's are really just antique little girls!"

    1. Re: [KYFAYETT] 1820 census indexes - Barclay, Rhorer
    2. Thank you Christine for your offer to do lookups. The New York Public Library (where I live) has the complete 1790 census on microfilm but only the east coast for 1820 so I would like lookups on BARCLAY (Hugh and Samuel in Warren County - probably - but any Barclay in Kentucky and RHORER(any first name). Thank you so much, Margie in NYC

    3. Christine, Thank you! I didn't make myself clear apparently but a lot of what you have here is VERY helpful. The man's full name was Burns TURNER. (First name: Burns) He went to Fayette Cnty sometime after 1800 and arrived in IN around 1828. During the time he was in KY, his wife died. I'm trying to find out who his wife and kids were. So, anything after 1800 and before 1830 would be what I'd want. Is that possible with what you have? Forgive me...I'm still very new at this.
