    1. [KYFAYETT] Presbyterian Rhorers or Rohrers
    2. Pamela Zull
    3. Margie; I rechecked in the book and for Henry Rohrer m. to Magdalena Huber and he spelled it Rohrer maybe. But then there is this general switching around between Rohrer and Rhorer in that family. This makes it hard when you go to look up something that is in alphabetical order. And that surname of Good for Ann Good was I am certain Guth. Some of the German families capitulated sooner than later. I have Schnocks and that can go all the way to Shook. That some Rohrers or Rhorers are Presbyterian is interesting. I think they all started out as either Lutherans or even Mennonites in some cases, especially the ones who stayed in Pennsylvania. My line of Rehrers had nothing to do with this $50 book I bought. I have Berks County PA Rehrers or Rohrers or whatever spelling they latched onto. That is not as confusing though as the number of Johann Jacob Rohrers they have.. the genealogical kiss of death to figure out. Anyway, in this book I have there is a lengthy discussion on pages 18 and 19 about whether or not the family of Rhorers in Jessamine County was Presbyterian or not. I have no idea but it says that Jacob Rohrer, Moses Hoover, Abraham Houser Sr were Dunkard preachers. Then later members of the family became affiliated with more "generic" Christian churches as the author puts it. In my opinion, I think the Rohrers who went to KY assimilated into the mainstream whereas the ones who stayed in PA maintained more of a German culture. My great grandmother Dollingers brothers all learned German first in the late 1800s and the family had been in the US for well over 100 years at that point. The Wicliffe book is good on background and even explains German customs. pamela

    3. Margie, LOL, yes I understand now. I thought you had only one. This list is perfect as I was looking for a family name who was a minister in a Presby church in that area. His sons were also but no one knows where they went. The name was STEWART and if you could also look up TURNER, I would really, really appreciate it. You have some priceless information in your hands. Thank you so much! 1. [KYFAYETT] Hans Michael Rohrer
    2. Pamela Zull
    3. Margie; I was trying to type on my son's computer last night and the angle to the keyboard was off so this should go better. Hans Michael Rohrer was born circa 1665 in Markirch, Alsace, m. 6 June 1688 in Markirch to Katherine Scwagler and m (2) unknown. Markirch, Alsace is today known as St. Marie-Aux-Mines, France. David Rohrer was probably a brother. He married Elizabeth Chenal on February 20, 1696 in Markirch. The second marriage of Hans Michael is based on the research of Albert L. Rohrer who came to the conclusion that Martin and Samuel were half brothers of John who aided them in purchasing and settling lands of Hagaerstown, MD. Samuel's farm bordered on a 320 acre tract known as Piney Hills Enlarged, which John Rohrer purchased from John Sweringen on March 16, 1763 and left to his son Martin by will. Louise Rhorer Eddleman states that this wife came to America with Hans and her two children Samuel and Martin. Children: 1. Hans Jacob Rohrer b 15 May 1689 in Markirch 2. Hans Michael Rohrer, b. 15 April 1691, Markirch 3. Verena Rohrer, b. 10 may 1693, Markirch 4. Anna Maria Rohrer, b. 4 May 4 May 1698, Markirch 5. David Rohrer, b. 10 Feb 1704, Markirch 6. Johannes Rohrer 7. John Jacob b. ??March 1696 8. Samuel, b. abt 1715 That last Samuel is your line. Samuel Rohrer b abt 1715 in Europe, probably Alsace. d 12 August 1788 and buried in Rohrersville, MD. He came to America when he was 11 years old. Will proven on August 12, 1788. Children: 1. Frederick, b. 20 March 1755 2. Henry 3. Christian Rohrer. No records other than to show that he died in Indiana. According to Louise Eddleman, Miss Bessie Rohrer stated that in Deed Book C, pages 570 to 571 in Washington Co, MD dated on December 12, 1791 that Christian and his brother Martin enlisted in Capt Lewis' company to go on an expedition into Indiana territory. Should they not return, their shares of their father's estate would go to their brother Johan. 4. Martin Rohrer 5. Elizabaeth Rohrer m 7 Nov 1800 to Jacob Hoover and (2) to Simeon Thomas on 1 Oct 1845. The first marriage bond was by Jacob Rohrer. 6. Abraham Rohrer 7. Jacob b 1750-55 8. John Rohrer 9. Ann (Nancy) b. abt 1750 If you do a search on www.familytreemaker.com for Hans Michael Rohrer you will come up with a lot of things and bifurcations on the trees. I type much better in the morning and will look and see how that last stuff looks or if it came out all right. Pamela

Fayette County Marriage Records According to one of my source books, the County Clerk of Fayette County has marriages from 1795, however, another source told me that the records may have burned in 1803, so I don’t know just who to believe. I have found information on Fayette County marriages in the following sources: Fayette County Kentucky Records Vol. 3 Michael L. Cook, C. G. Bettie A. Cummings Cook, C. G. Cook Publications 3318 Winberg Ave. Evansville, Ind. 47712 (There are a number of volumes in this series that contain a lot of different kinds of information) Kentucky Marriages 1801 - 1825 by Liakona Research Heritage Quest Bountiful, Utah 1999 I think there may have also been another volume which contained marriages for prior years, but I don’t have it listed in my notes, so I am not sure if this is the source or one of the other sources listed in this message.)
