    3. On the 1810 Ky Census, there was one John Carter listed in each of the listed counties. These were the only John Carters in Ky in 1810. One of them had at least 2 sons, John and JOB, who was "deaf and dumb". Does anyone have any information of such a combination John, with sons John and a Deaf JOB? Any information appreciated. 1. [KYFAYETT] Re:Henry & Martha FERGUSON
    2. Dear Karen, Is this the same Ferguson family that was also in Scott County in the 1790s? There is a federal court case involving a Ferguson in Scott County and my ancestor John D. Perkins testified on his behalf as he lived on part of the Ferguson land in the area of leCompte's Run in Scott County. I belong to the Fayette, Bourbon, Grant, Harrison, Owen, Woodford and Gallatin mailing lists so I saw your posting three times. It was also forwarded to the Harrison County list. I am also very interested in the Jane Ferguson you state married a Mr. Martin. Do you have any further information on this Martin? I have an Elijah Martin that lived in Pendelton County in the 1813-1818 era. He then moved to Owen County, KY. His first wife died before 1818 and he had one known daughter Sarah Martin born in 1813 who is my GGGgrandmother. She married Thomas Jones in Owen County, KY on Nov. 9, 1833. Elijah Martin was connected to the Perkins family in several transactions and later the lines intermarried. It is possible that they knew each other because of both being connected to the Ferguson family. I also know the Ferguson family of Scott county was associated with the Lindsay family in Scott County. Thanks so much. Sincerely, MichaelAnne Guido

Try some of the funeral homes in the area...they often have not only records of maiden names, but birth dates, spouse names, parents names and the funeral home does the newspaper obit, so they attach a copy to their records...if you find her, they often will send you the records at no charge..Charlotte ----- Original Message ----- From: J & D McGuire Sent: Friday, November 03, 2000 2:46 PM To: KYFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYFAYETT] Obits and death records Lucille Ferrell died on March 29, 1974 in Fayette Co, KY according to record I found online at KY Vital records, cert. #08101. 2. My great grandmother was LAURA BELL CASSIDAY and was born in 1867. Her father was JOHN CASSIDAY, I believe and her mothers maiden name was MANN. I am not sure of this spelling of CASSIDAY but have turned it up several places. I would be interested if there was any connection with your family.

    1. [KYFAYETT] Massillon CASSIDY
    2. Hi all, I am new to the list so thought first of all I would provide a bit of background on the Fayette County family I am researching. One of my family lines is CASSIDY, originating (at this point) with Jeremiah Alexander CASSIDY b. in 1809 in VA. He moved to Morristown TN and married Martha Matilda JACKSON. (Met her in KY) They had six children. One was my great grandfather Frank Byrdlow CASSIDY who moved on to TX shortly after the Civil War. Another of the children was Massillon Alexander CASSIDY b. 1856 in Morristown, TN. After the Civil War Massillon went on to acquire an extensive education, some obtained at the University of Kentucky. He married Martha Caroline ROGAN in January of 1881. Massillon (or M A) was a professor, journalist and later, the Superintendent of Fayette County schools and Superintendent of Lexington City Schools. It seems he wrote numerous articles and a book as well. And research indicates he corresponded for some years with the Kentucky author, James Lane Allen. This Uncle of mine has been the catalyst for some fun and wonderfully interesting studies in the last few months. And of course I hope to learn more about him, read his articles if possible and learn about his family. I have gathered some information and would be very pleased to share it with anyone who may also be researching this gentleman. I know almost nothing about his father's family. Jeremiah did return in later life to VA and pass away there in 1900. There is one family note indicating he is buried at a location at Mount Vernon but I have not yet found it. There is also some family lore about Jeremiah's grandfather. He is mentioned in a 1940 biography about my grandfather, Eugene Herbert CASSIDY stating; "both sides of my family go back to the revolution, most notably my great great grandfather, Jeremiah Andrew CASSIDY who fought in the Revolution and lived to the unbelievably great age of 127 years." (NO, I have no proof of this.) I have located a distant cousin whose branch of this tree heard the same thing. Our lines haven't been in touch in 70 or 80 years. Hmmmm. Would like to ask if anyone is aware of a location on the internet where folks in the Lexington Cemetery are searchable? I know Massillon is buried there somewhere and I believe two of his sons are as well in a CASSIDY plot. Hope to find out if other family is there. Thanks for wading through all this information. I would very much appreciate hearing from any interested folks regarding my CASSIDY's. The surnames I am researching in Kentucky are: CASSIDY / JACKSON / ROGAN / COX / BATCHELOR. Thanks, Christine Cassidy Schutz

    2. There is a John Bronaugh family in Lexington. He is currently a Realtor with this own business and was in the trucking business prior to that. He served in the Air Force and graduated from the University of Ky. around 1957. He is a friend of mine but I don't know whether or not he is on the computer.

Hello List: I have been on the list before but a thunderstorm in the Spring zapped my old computer and I am just now getting back into things - I put the different spellings - there are more than the above - but those are the most prevalent - also Burnaw - which I definitely think is one and the same family. I'm getting up to the age where I better get going or I'll be gone!! So any input any of you have to share please do. Virginia

    2. ### The Smith's were proud of their family tradition. Their ancestors had come to America on the Mayflower. Their line had included Senators, Pastors and Wall Street wizards. Now they decided to compile a family history, a legacy for the children. They hired a fine author. Only one problem arose: how to handle that great uncle who was executed in the electric chair. But the author said not to worry, he could handle that section of history tactfully. When the book appeared, the family turned to the section on Uncle George. There they read, "George Smith occupied a chair of applied electronics at a important government institution, was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a real shock." ######
