The 7th child, Miss Sallie Payne (never married) created an exquisite silk quilt that will be exhibited soon and I have taken the responsibility to find more on this family. I'm very interested in determining if Miss Sallie attended a school in KY, where she learned her unusually fine ability to stitch and embroider. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. 1. MARTIN SHEEHAN FAMILY..
    2. Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert
    3. Hi All: Are there any SHEEHAN researchers on the List?? I know I've asked this before -- but never hurts to ask again.. I'm still looking for more info. on my MARTIN SHEEHAN & ELLEN (O'CONNOR) SHEEHAN family. I have both of their death certificates and his says he died "5 miles - Georgetown Pike." Hers says she died at her home of Greendale'... So, does anyone have any information regarding Greendale in the 1850s and later? I did a Google search, and did find information regarding a Reformatory that was built quite early there. I've been quite grateful for information shared with me by the Dominican Archives, as MARTIN SHEEHAN, jr. was Rev. MARTIN A. SHEEHAN, O.P. and was subprior at the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer in New York. His sister, CATHERINE, became Sister MARY BERTRAND SHEEHAN and lived most of her life at St. Catharine's Convent, KY and died there. Four other siblings never married. According to the information I've gleaned, they were a very religious Catholic family. The parents were both born in Ireland. Supposedly, MARTIN SHEEHAN came to America in 1848 at the age of 27. (I've not been able to find the ship record to find out which port he might have come into...) MARTIN SHEEHAN and ELLEN O'CONNOR were supposed to have been married in Jefferson City, Missouri sometime between 1848 and 1856, when their first daughter, JOSEPHINE, was born there. The rest of the children were born near Harrodsburg, KY, the parents having settled near the Shaker Colony in Shakerstown; Mercer County, KY. They then moved near Greendale where MARTIN was a very prosperous farmer. Does anyone have any ideas why this particular migration -- landing somewhere (probably New York) in America, then going to Jefferson City, MO. and then on to Mercer and Fayette Co., KY? I cannot imagine going such a distance.. Best Regards, Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert at iggy29@rnetinc.net

    2. This is lengthy, I'm sorry, but only way to explain and perhaps relate to any of you. I'm interested in the above families. They traveled with Daniel Boone from VA > KY > MO. Fayette was one of the many stops for these families. Hoping someone might have more information, possibly a relative or two. I have wondered about several things. Like getting copies of marriages from county/state books, copies of census records that I don't have. Church Records? Birth Records? Just a few heavy duty items that I can't get here in Indiana and on the Web. Would any of you suggest the counties or state records(which is best). Also, Cemeteries? Anything is appreciated. I have found most of the census from Ancestry.com - however I'm sure there is more! Related names (women's maiden names): 1. Elizabeth Betsy McKinney(b. 1870 in KY but married to John King on MO-brother is John McKinney of Staunton, VA per KY Biographies ), 2.
